I did manage a BIN on Astrobubbles. Please also note neither site set up a shipping policy that automatically applies the shipping discount. I did the Add To Cart on 2 and the shipping charge appeared twice. I did not conclude that buy.

You only need to email the seller and tell him/her to send you an invoice for total purchases. They will automatically reverse the double shipping charge -- although, there may be a small upcharge for additional rhizomes.

Well, I just did a BIN for Head over Heels.
My reasoning was 1. I already have one that
hasn't bloomed yet, but I like to have backup for ones
that I have high hopes for. 2. It's a very very early bloom
time, and I'm trying to add more of those because I CAN'T WAIT!
3. The delivery time was listed as Nov. 12, and that's my birthday. Rolling my eyes.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Just ordered 2 from Cassie chug and iris sisters. In the checkout I sent a message to combine shipping. Now I just wait for an invoice? Do they see what's in my cart or do I need to be detailed with item numbers when messaging? Confused
Gimme it and I'll grow it!

Happy Birthday Present, Jan! (Good choice.)

Gabriel, they should send a combined item invoice. If you haven't received one by end of day tomorrow, I would contact them.

Gabriel, my guess is they set up the BIN as "Immediate Payment Required", which means you will pay upfront and they will do a partial refund once actual shipping costs are known. The reason I think this is when I had 2 items in my cart and went to checkout, I was directed to PayPal. At that point I stopped the process. But sellers are very good with partial refunds, I just didn't feel like going thru the process so I only got one.

You don't own it until you get the 'Congratulations' notice from eBay and it appears in your Purchase History.

BTW, very nice buy on the Italian Velvet. Wasn't that a great price? I had a tough time passing it up.

I think you might be able to get some of the ones you want but missed in the auction. Just contact Sisters irises, and see if they have more of the ones they sold, I'd bet they do. They would probably send you a list of any others that they have for sale too. You can just bypass E-bay.

Tom. Can rhizomes be stored in something like sawdust or peat moss over the winter in a garage?

Tom, it is against ebay rules for a seller to add non-ebay sales to an ebay invoice. In fact, they are 'supposed' to tell bidders 'no' up front, and they can get kicked off if they do it. If anyone wants to ask for non-auction items, contact Iris Sisters via direct email. They probably have a system where they can do separate invoices and payments, but one shipping cost.

You can tell I don't do e-bay, but nothing is stopping one from e-mailing them directly and seeing what they have for sale.

John, I have never over wintered any rhizomes out of the ground and then planted them. I have had some left overs that spent the winter in the basement, but I just tossed them in the spring. It would have been a good experiment though.

Correct, Tom, and a route I would heartily recommend, especially as I have thought of doing that myself with these auctions. Whistling Whistling Big Grin Big Grin

Debra, correct. That would get you suspended. But you can contact a seller and ask if they are going to put such and such up for auction. But those conversations need to go thru eBay via Contact Seller or Ask A Question. If you go outside of eBay it is best to stay outside eBay for the whole transaction.

Has anyone wintered a rhizome out of the ground and planted it the following Spring.

I've not heard of anyone doing it intentionally, John -- but I've heard of quite a few people who did it inadvertently and the Irises were fine. Shrug!

OK, here's what I'm going to do. I have some 'lost tags' that I will dig up right before we get some real cold air. I'll clean and store them over this winter and see how they do next Spring. There is rhyme and reason for this experiment. If they do fine and if Iris Sisters has another 50% off sale next Fall I can buy without worrying about storing them.
