I have tons of this flower, but when looking for seed, I couldn't tell what was seed and what was chaff. This truly is a favorite of the birds. The Juncos have now joined the Goldfinches in eating this.
Here is a summer picture of the Goldfinch. It was interesting... we never had Goldfinches breed here until I planted this. :)

I mentioned earlier natives that can be found in Iowa, even grasses are fine, except Indian Grass... I've got plenty of seed.
These are the items on my want list on this site:
Carrion Flower (Smilax herbacea) or any of the native Smilax that are not the briars.
Horse Nettle (Solanum carolinense)
Living stones (Lithops) Several in my family want this and we are not finding the plant locally.
Sponge Luffa (Luffa cylindrica)

Chillybean, I have white snakeroot (Ageratina altissima) growing wild in my yard. It is a native wildflower that blooms in Sept/Oct in NY. I looked it up and the distribution includes Iowa. Do you want some? If so, I can add it to my swap list. It's forming seeds now and I have some I collected last year. The seed is wind-dispersed but it's easy to pull anywhere you don't want it.

I've added Luffa cylindrica to my list.

I have Sponge Luffa, it's from 2012 I think but it should be viable seed. I've grown from 5 or 6 year old seed with very good results. I'll add some to my list.

Will look for, think I have somewhere - Asclepias verticillata (whorled milkweed)

@ poisondartfrog I looked again for seed and was wanting to add a few packets. Comparing what I have with Prairie Moon's picture of the seeds, I still could not tell that I had any. If you send me a T-mail with your address, I can dig up some of the rhizomes and send it in the mail. We have to go to town on Monday, so can send it off then.

That is very kind of you Chillybean , but I bet you have seeds. The birds may have gotten most of them but if you roll the disk of the sunflower between your thumb and fingers some of these may fall out.

and im lost, where is the short description of how this beta works? for instance how much money do we send for postage and how do we ask for seeds? tree mails?,and if i promise seeds do i then subtract from the packet total? am i the only one who is lost? nice seeds, and this is fun bit I have a feeling that im missing some important piece of the puzzle and i dont want to be the weak link. have we started swapping already?

I don't think the details on how this is going to work has been given yet. Right now we should just be focusing on getting our seed list completed and posted as soon as possible so we can move forward with the actual swap. Dave will let us know the detail when is about to release that portion of the program. It was mentioned that shipping would be about $6.00 since that is the cost of a small priority mail flat rate box. But if you only get just a few packs of seeds then it would probably be less.
