I love truffles! We have all sorts of mushrooms growing but no truffles. In my dreams, I would travel to Provence for truffles. I would love to experience fields of blooming lavender......

I struggle to keep a single lavender plant alive! I am trying to root some cuttings from lavender plants in the library gardens. they are large established plants, they may be adapted to the climate. I am able to winter sow lavender seeds, but the resulting plants haven't thrived.

I have more to add. I caught up with work, so I am heading out to beat the rain. I have a few plants and lots of leaves to move! This evening and tomorrow will be rainy. I hope to finish listing seeds for this swap by Friday. I still have seeds drying, I may find more outside and I have last years garden seeds to add. When I am done with seeds, I can organize my pictures!

Do you have more acorns than usual this year? I have tons!!! Buckets full !!!!! I rake the leaves and the ground is covered with acorns. The squirrels aren't bothering with them this year. Maybe they expect a mild winter?

Are people interested in native plants like pissipiqua, goldenrod, queen anne's lace , native rhododendron, mountain laurel...??? So far, there is only interest in the white flowered milkweed (A. variegata). I understand. It is an unusual variety. I hadn't seen it until I moved to the neighborhood. I have only seen one large stand of this milkweed, but I have started another at the border of the woods by my place. According to reading, it is a native variety, but it is less common than the typical pink milkweed (A. syriaca).

I can list more native plants if people are likely to be interested eventually.

I am always interested in natives and gladly would snag any Goldenrod. What is pissipiqua? I tried a search and nothing came up. Do you know the native rhododendron species off hand? I found one that is native further east and I am trying to stick to plants native to Iowa. Most of my plants are tallgrass prairie, but near the house where there is shade I do a bit more playing with Savannah and Woodland species.

I have natives listed with clickable links and some pictures (and websites on natives at eh bottom of the page) on the page for last year's piggy swap. I collected some new natives (the toad flax and native phlox) this year. I have some fresh seed of most already, just haven't listed them yet. I will get them together shortly. I'll make a point to get a bunch of goldenrod fluff tonight when I walk Winston the pug. It is going to seed now!

One thing I noticed in this neighborhood, the woodland asters are white, not blue.

I would send seed gathered this year, but it is the same species (and maybe the same plants) as last year.

Chimaphila maculata aka Striped Pipsissewa woodland ground cover - sorry, I misspelled it. I had to ask the people at Ellen's garden what the name of this plant was last year.

I picked up a few seed pods this morning. It went to seed the same time last year. During swap aka first frost time in the Pocono mountains.

It is a cute, striped ground cover. Striped leaves, tiny white flowers. It grows under mixed pine and birch trees. It is most common to see it popping up among pine needles in wooded areas. I am encouraging some to grow under my azaleas. It is a bit fussy. I suspect it likes very acid soil in dappled shade.

This is SO much fun, I spent an hour last night packaging up everything so far that is "sold" because the system makes it so easy to see what needs to be done.
My only sad moment was when I missed out on Kelloggs Breakfast tomato seeds, I have grown it with purchased seeds but it wasn't very impressive and since Dave raves about it I think his variety may be better. Still I have snagged a lot of the veggies I wanted, plus a few flowers. Really love this swap.

It really is the best tomato. I'll see if Trish can put together some extra Kellogg's Breakfast seed packets so we can up the quantity available for this swap.

I'd totally be interested in the Pipsissewa groundcover! I have a huge pine tree that I have the worst time trying to find something that will tolerate growing under it. I have a Heuchera and a couple of daylilies at its perimeter but anything closer dies (except bulbs). If this would survive I'd be over the moon!

I'll gather more and list it. It is a cute little plant. It does well when it is happy. It doesn't fill a mat like some groundcovers, but it pops up. I'll take more pictures. It will be raining on and off tomorrow. I'll see how far Winston the pug feels like walking.

What is everyone's earliest tomato? I feel like I have to wait forever for a fresh tomato in the summer.

I asked Trish to put together some more packets and make them available on her list. So keep it in your wishlist and hopefully soon you'll see it appear as available again.

I've had the same experience with Kellogg's Breakfast, slow and low production. Soo, I'd all dibs on a bag of them if there are extra available. It seems like I looked at them but it was like a bag of 200 seeds and I sure don't need that many. About 20 seeds is good for my small garden, that would last for more than one try. Smiling

Would anyone like Yellow Giant Hyssop? I went out back to pull a weed grass that was just ID'ed and discovered one of my plants had several pods. I have to pull them in today before predicted snow. I brought one "pod" to see how many seeds and I got out three. Several stalks should give at least a dozen seeds total. We've had a lot of wind lately that likely distributed many.

I would only need about 10 of Kellogg's Breakfast. We only put in a few tomato plants.
