After the beautiful warm weather of the weekend ...it snowed all day yesterday Thumbs down It didn't amount to much, inch or two of wet slippery snow and is all melted tonight. Poor Man's Fertilizer, as they say in our neck of the woods.

Kelli, too bad you can't share a little of that heat with us in the cold zones. It is 21F, dark and gloomy, lightly snowing, supposed to get some sunny breaks later.

It was 70 when we got up but now at noon it's 87. Glad I got my outside work done early.

Happy St. Paddy's Day everyone ... well here it is windy !!!! and chilly .....but not seriously cold . Actually if the darn wind would stop it would be quite nice out there . It's cloudy and they are calling for rain later today .

Ground is mucky as frost is out of the ground and the clay turns to muck with the slightest bit of rain . Daffs and narcissus and daylilies are growing at an amazing rate . Too fast really as I need to get into some gardens to get out last years plant residue and darned dandelions before the anchor themselves in there for the season . Snowdrops continue to bloom and lungwort is starting . I have a small division of mini purple iris that is blooming and the fall crocus leaves are up about 3 inches already . Maple trees are budding already .I truely do believe spring will be early this year.

I hope it really is spring as far as the weather is concerned and that it stays that way.

We have had high wind warnings 2 days in a row here. Some cities were without power because of the wind.

We had some strong wind as well and a little lightning during a rainstorm yesterday evening. Apparently the wind toppled over some partially built houses not far from here.

Only the snowdrops and some crocus have bloomed here, just a little north of Toronto, but it's probably a good thing as the forecast is showing a low of -8°C tomorrow night. Brr!

Not a great pic... I just got my first smart phone and have been testing the camera. I'm not that impressed with the quick garden shots. (Probably user error though! Sticking tongue out )

It is glorious out there this morning ......No wind, sun is shining plants are beginning to bloom what mor e could you ask for ? ok well a million bucks would be nice . Think of all the plants I could add to the gardens with that kind of dough.....I could even afford to hire someone to weed ......they say if you put the thought out into the universe and then picture what you want to happen it will happen .....Not sure if I believe that but it's worth a try ........might win enough on the lottery to buy another ticket LOL!
Gonna take the ugly orange snowfence down in my front yard
We use it cuz we dont have a garage and because it is sooooo damn flat here with bare farmer's fields all around us the wind blows what snow we get right into our driveway UGH! So all winter I get to look at that ugly old thing from my front window ......NO MORE ......today it comes down and gets rolled up and put away . Yay!!!!!!!!

So although I haven't been able to be out in the gardens the last couple of months I have been keeping my self busy making garden orbs. Some are very simple ones , some very complex. Some have ornamentation and some are in different finishes, i.e. rusted , or painted , or bright silver metal .Has kept me from going stir crazy ( I suppose saying that is a qualitative thing LOL !) Anyway here are a couple of photos
Thumb of 2016-03-18/signet/83f95e

Here is one I made to use at Christmas . I can put lights in side it and it looks like a tree ornament .
Thumb of 2016-03-18/signet/62cea6

That's it ! I give up....every photo I post on this site seems to post sideways . I have adjusted the size of the photo , made sure it is upright in my computer and on Irfanview and still it posts images sideways here . I guess I just wont post any more images. Sigh !!!!!!!!!!!!

Darn, I spoke too soon. The wind is starting to pick up......anyway hope everyone has a great day .....I am heading back outside to weed ....my most favorite thing to do . NOT!

Bright sunshine and even colder than yesterday morning, a mere 7F degrees, at least it isn't windy.

Hovering around freezing here just past noon. The sky is blue, it looks nice outside from inside and there's only snow remaining where it had drifted, but with the wind it's definitely a little nippy.
