Brrrrrrr here this morning .. it's 35F .. furnace is running ..

QUESTION: guess this would be to the more northerly folks .. our leaves have been mulched with the mower in the large expanse of the property, but, the dog's compound has been left long .. I SO want to cut it but have heard I should not .. as the days dwindle down, and, our first snowfall approaches, well, I want to make sure it's ready .. last year it was a 50/50 mix as it snowed when it was neither short, nor long .. just askin :-)

Have a super week

Sunny. NE wind around 5 mph.

Greene,
I had the fan on because of the extra blanket, lol! The house really gathered heat from the sun yesterday.

Karen and Greene,

Pepper,
Oh, I'll bet the JM is pretty! Oh wow! I just Googled it.

Marilynne,
I'd not cut it, but cut it long early next spring. Lower the mower and cut again when it's grown a bit, till you get it the length you want it. Long growth makes long roots. Good for the grass. I cut ours at 4''. I mow every four days in the summer.

Woke up to a cool 58F. Expecting some rains here this week, looking ahead for this week, if rain does come, our overnights will remain above 50F, so I guess it buys me one more week in bringing indoors some of my plants. I want the plants to experience one more round of rains.

Highs for today and this week to be in the low 70's, nice and comfy for all of us and the plants too! I like seeing the morning humidity reaching 78% instead of the 40% and lower.

This may sound like a lame question but 50/50 mix of what? grass and leaves? grass, leaves and snow? or, since it it the dog compound, um, 50% from the dogs and 50% of something else?

Either way, I would cut it using the mulching mower but I would wash the mower afterwards just in case it involves dog poop. Thumbs up

Good morning! We started at 58F and we got some nice drizzle going on! But it will dissipate by mid-day so it will be good dry out time for my succulents.

I think tomorrow will be dry whole day, so will just allow the plants to continue drying out and finally bring some in, been delaying it to allow them to get some of these lovely rains.

It's 86°f right now at 3:30pm with humidity of 62%. We got some rain this morning but then the sun came out and turned it all to steam and humidity. It's better now, we've got everything opened up and only a fan on.

Started out about 34F this morning, got up around 50 later on, and sunny... great weather for working outdoors (although DH did come into the house at one point with his teeshirt soaked with sweat... I might be working him a little too hard Shrug! )

A balmy 38F here this morning , 63% humidity and, as I see it, a great green wall of precip stretching from Indiana all the way up to Manitoba, and, headed towards us ..
want to put sheets out on the line, best get at it, but, it's going to be dark for a while longer.

I am going to CUT THE DOG'S enclosure today .. can't see the poo !!! We went out yesterday and got most all of the treasures, so today .. zoom zoom !!

Love Tacos, but mild .. and, if this don't beat all,I won't eat them as they are 'messy' .. soft shell only, like a burrito .. the hard ones seem to crack apart then you end up wearing the filling Sad

Enjoy your day

When I lived up north (and before poop bags and pooper scooper laws) we used to have to pick up the dog poop before we cut the grass. Now that I live in the south I no longer have to do that - mostly because I use a poop bag (almost every time *Blush* ). If there are orphan poops (from my neighbor's dog) they get removed by the Scarab beetles that live in the yard. I love that these insects work for free. I think they are the Rainbow Scarab/Phanaeus vindex.

that's a dream, poop beetles!! Come on in guys and haul it all away for free. LOL I wonder if they do cat boxes?

Raining and overcast all day today, much cooler. 85°f with 65% humidity. We slept without the AC last night and I was still huddled under the blankets.
