I had some made up by a company years ago for my peonies. They were green on tall metal stakes and the engraving showed up white. Kind of expensive @ $4 (I think) each, but they last forever. I may order more for the new peonies I have.

kousa said:Those look really nice, Yan! What kind of ink do you use to write the names? Are those copper plated labels?

Karen, those plant label marker come with a marker pen, I just write down the name of the plants myself. (i had to write the Chinese name for my parents). It's not as good of the quality as Liz's, but it is on my price range, I think I paid 10 of 10" marker for $7.99 on one of the website.

Mine aren't expensive, Yan, but you do have to order a minimum of 100. I wish now I'd ordered a different type, the deer step on these and the name part pops off. Most of the time I find them nearby but not always. I ordered type C, next time I'll order E, I think. I just use a label maker with them now. Project this year is to label over my terrible writing on the oldest ones!

Mieko, same question I want to ask. I have 4 varieties in my cart. I haven't checked out yet. It says on their website that they send at least 5 eyes division.

As luck should have it I was just out at Pure Peonies Farm. They were very knowledgeable and kind. Definitely a labor of love there. He said they opened their business in 2011. Their plants looked lush and huge! Will add them to my ordering list.
'Athena' blooming on their farm today.

The Northwest is a very special climate for flowers of all kinds! I tried to tell the owner that, everything grows bigger and better. And the colors! It's just very special.

I ordered from them fall 2013, probably have pics of roots here in the old threads. I ordered from a LOT of companies that year and only had negative comments about 2 of them, Pure Peonies was good. I wrote most 3-5 eye healthy divisions except for Salmon Glory which was 8 eyes! They had some weird, auto-generated emails that were pretty funky, contacted them and they apologized. If they were only in business since 2011 that's probably just a bit of growing pains. I got several from them that year: Avalon, Belleville, Best Man, Buckeye Belle, Bowl of Cream, Etched Salmon, Gold Mine, Lady Orchid and one in 2014, Pink Vanguard.

Did you see how much their Summer Glow is??? Holy Cow!! Think mine was $20 or so from Hollingsworths! It does multiply slowly but WOW!!
Okay, I see why now. It doesn't seem to be available anywhere else, sold out at Hollingsworth's. I guess if it increases as slow as it's supposed to (mine still hasn't even bloomed and I got it fall 2013) it has to be priced high to get a return on investment.
Most of the rest seem pretty reasonable. Isn't their site PRETTY? I just ordered Addie Tischler, Alba Plena and Langley from them....

I just placed an order with The Peony Shop in Holland. Had to order $100 worth so I got 13. Just what I needed. NOT. But I couldn't resist as the prices were really great and they promise 3-5 eye tubers/roots. I got some I don't see very often locally (meaning the US vendors). It was another $55 for freight and Phito(?) cert. So $154 for 13 plants. Not bad.

Size Price Quantity Discount Cost

1 Catharine Fontijn
2 Charlies White
3 Henry Bockstoce
4 Jan Van Leeuwen
5 Joker
6 Marie Lemoine
7 Primevere
8 Snow Mountain
9 Solange
10 Stellar Charm
Total Cost € 104.00 I understand that this is in euros so the exchange rate is now about US1:Euro1.13 their favor

That is so exciting, Mary! Please let us know how their roots turn out for you. Their prices are not bad at all. Hopefully, someday they will have their seedlings available for sale. They have some really beautiful seedlings that have been sold out for awhile.
