Last year I had the worst luck with cucumbers that I have ever had. Mostly I Bought seedlings. After I planted them they mostly all died. So I only had a few plants. Decided to start my own again this year and plant many, many, many. I want lots of cucumbers!!

@Newyorkrita, I was given 2 cucumber seedlings last year, they did not do particularly well either. I plan on starting my own indoors from seed & then planting them on a trellis & covering the whole thing with a row cover. I am hoping to foil the bugs.

Good luck with yours!

Sometimes I buy plants, sometimes I start my own from seed. Most years I have plenty of cucumbers and I am happy and proud of my crop.

Last year though. it was different and my cuke plants did horribly. I was not a happy camper.

This year I have more garden space than ever dedicated to cukes so want to be back to the fabulous harvests again.

Lets hope we all have excellent growth on our cucumbers and a bounty of harvests! nodding

I am growing seedlings from seeds myself and they do look good. They will still get some growth on them before it is warm enough for them to go in the ground.

Cucumbers and melons too I am doing from seed.

The extended ten day forecast for here is looking really good on Weather Underground. Night lows mid 40's to 50. Daytime 60's to 70.

I already brought the seedlings back inside as each morning I put them out. I have been doing this for a week now.

So I planted tomato plants in ground already today. Yup on April 18th which is crazy early.

The luxury of having started my own tomatoes from seed and way, way more than I need is that I have doubles. So set aside duplicates of ones I planted just in case I need to replant.

I am slow as I just can't do all the bending and getting up and down to plant very quickly but I do get it done.

You know those Plants stay outside all night in all the big box stores.

Our low last night was 40.6. I do realize they stay outside at the big box stores but it was my protective instinct that made me take care of it. I'm sure it's just a temporary phase I'm going through!
