I love messin' with you guys. It (almost) never works but it's fun nonetheless. Especially with such a ridiculous claim as this.

Here's another shot of Mrs. Mantis, at this time of year probably ready to lay an egg case. Funny, when I was a kid in Berkeley and the surrounding areas I knew every insect there was, but I never saw any Mantids. I was surprised to find them in Western Oregon. Bonus. Big Grin

Oh yeah... I forgot this picture of 'Lion King' with his sedum pal.

That is a cute sedum and I'm wanting some too Hilarious!
(like I need more hitchhikers D'Oh! seriously)
so tell me, in a bunch of the pictures it's kinda fuzzy looking and then others not so much--does it do both or are there different kinds that have been lumped together under one name now?

Hmmm... I think you're going to have to rephrase that, or be more specific. I can't figure out what you're asking. Confused

There is so much controversy over the placing of this type of sedum, . There are those that are very definitely fuzzy and others that are slightly fuzzy. And to confuse things more, the fuzziness/amount of fuzziness can depend on the time of year and growing conditions. Sedum dasyphyllum var. glanduliferum
And then there are the other dasyphyllum varieties. http://garden.org/plants/searc...

One of the beds ready for winter.

I see that the far left corner still needs some thining. Rolling my eyes.

My little 'Black Prince' has finally decided to grow after two years of struggling with it. I think it was worth the drouble. This is a smaller type of semp. The plant tag and cinder block hole give reference for the size.

'Grigg's Surprise' in need of a tweez.

Lynn, Your semp bed looks so immaculate and well tended! And you do a tweeze job on your semps too?... I thought I was only one so persnickety about that but it's got to be done if I want the semps to look their best especially since I can't control the other aspects of what makes a semp good looking.

I planted S. dashphyllum in several little pots and am going to see how they do this winter without a whole lot of pampering. The critters/birds don't seem to want to eat this sedum. Its the Sedum album, Senecio rowleyanus and Senecio radicans that are the critters' food of choice when they get onto the balconies where these plants sit.

This was the first year that bird attacked my sedum, and even a few of the semps. Some I had to cover to keep the birds from killing them out.

I don't have enough time to tweez all the semps. Sad
