Hey all, your semps are looking great! Love the red one too greg! Mine are stunted I think? The seperated chicks are growing well but the hens seem to have stopped and the colours are fading, the greens are yellowing and the reds are turning pinkish! I assumed thats what happens in the fall and wasn't really bothered.. but looking at everyone elses I don't know now!?! Sorry no pics atm I will take 1 or 2 when I'm back home!

Sy, I look forward to seeing your photos. Do you grow your semps outdoors? It is normal to have color changes, and many turn mostly green in the winter, others color up nicely in the winter. Then spring comes and they all come to life.

Sy your semps look great! Healthy and happy. I know for me the Arach. types need a full season before they colour up, if at all. This spring you will be able to tell if they're going to colour up more, but yours do look healthy! Hurray!

Congratulations also from my side, Daniel! It may disappoint you, but according to sempervivum-liste.de there's already a heuffelii called "Kassandra" introduced by Martin Haberer just recently -there might be some confusion...

Thanks everyone, for a moment there I thought the hens where dying!
I've been wondering what happens that make them produce offsets! The chicks I planted where takin off the hen on the same day, they where all pretty much the same size and have been in the same container ever since, just one has produced an offset and its not even the largest one! Its also starting to mound! Is there a secret something that triggers offsetting? Can it be forced?

This little baby is my favorite atm, it was one that was very small and I didn't know what to do with it so I just threw into a tiny pot and left it!

Daniel, put me on the list for one of those 'Kassandra Marie' semps when they are ready.

Tim thank you for the heads up on the banner.
@ge1836 Jo Ann, way to go. The banner is amazing. Love the set up with the site logo. Very artistic.

Sy, I'm not sure how a person would be able to trigger offsetting. I think it is normally triggered by a combination of day length and weather. Maybe Kevin can give us more information on this?

I would love to know more lynn! Its very strange, they receive the same amount of daylight and share the same weather! I have a feeling that maybe the hen gives one or more of the offsets a certain chemical or hormone? In the event that weather might kill them atleast one has a head start? It would be very interesting to know!

Daniel, are you planning to start seedlings next year? Or are there already some seedlings you could show us in the seedling chat? I'm also aiming on naming a semp seedling and started my first seedlings this year. Next year I will start far more seeds as I had about 25% of my collection blooming this year. This years seedlings did not yet show any interesting coloration until now -I'm hoping for next year...

Sy there is a product that people use for echinacea plants to trigger branching in the plant. Some people use this same product to trigger offsets. I can't remember what it is called, but there is something out there for sure! Thumbs up I am not sure that anyone on here who tried it had much success. I do think that good full light, and enough water but not too much, are things that help! Also where you are is beginning to get colder, and I don't think they'll offset as easily in cold weather. Come spring it is likely those other chicks will catch up with the one that offset!
Thumbs up
