Rare stuff indeed (for us PNW weather-wimps). Many semps and sedums are out there yet only an occasional Agave is seen standing sentinel. Last year I might have worried about this. Now I'm thinking they're all really cozy under there.
I'm with you Kevin... by the fireplace... glass in hand.

Luckily my concert tonight is cancelled. Many people have just abandoned their vehicles as they ended up in a ditch or couldn't ascend the Salem Hills. You can imagine those hills right behind me were more like a luge run than a road.

The snow will actually protect the plants. It's a good mulch and because it's frozen water doesn't cause rot either. They think they're back in the Alps for a few days anyway.

Save a hot buttered rum for me Tim!

I am sorry to hear about all the bad weather you are being hit with. I pray you all stay safe.
We are used to it but I try to stay off the roads when it gets like that. I HATE ICE Grumbling

Stay warm and safe inside and keep us posted on how the Semps are doing. Group hug

JungleShadows said:Had a nice visit with Tom today. Mountain Crest hasl ots of interesting things going on that you will soon see on their web site. I'll let them share all of this. It sounds very exciting though.

We are certainly in a great time for interest in Sempervivum! YEHAW!

Kevin

Tis truly a golden age for Sempervivums. Big Grin

Aumsville... eh? For me that's about the same as a trip to... oh... I don't... Dallas for instance. Whistling One more reason to head down the hiway. Not to mention the Kevin Vaughn Sempervivum Husbandry Research Center.

I know they're just getting started, but what are the odds of a field trip out there at clinic time?

No Aumsville is pretty close, about 25 minutes from my place. I think it will be a year before the facilities will be up and running.

Anyway, it appears that Oregon is really going to be even more of a center for semps with SMG, Little Prince, Perennial Obsessions and now Mountain Crest too. it is a great place to grow semps.

I do miss the sunshine. I haven't seen my semps in over a month now, mostly because I was gone for a month. Whistling
But now they are covered in snow. Suppose to warm up a bit which will get rid of the snow. Hurray!
