as an interesting "aside", several times I noticed our "local" newspaper (a mailed out *weekly*)would be one day late. Then one week, it was TWO days late, and when I mentioned it to our mailman......he blushed, and said he sometimes read it while eating his lunch.....and often forgot to return it to the stack of "sorted mail" ! We gave him a subscription for a Christmas present, that year Rolling my eyes. ! So, maybe Superstition will have LOTS of *new customer* orders from your area , this year, MaryAnn !!

Funny, Arlyn! And such a thoughtful way of remedying the problem Thumbs up

Our local mail distributation branch was NOT needed (per the post office) so if I wanted to mail a letter to my next door neighbor it now has to go to Sacramento then travel all the way back here. Thumbs down

That is the post office at work, Marilyn. Several years ago we had a notice that small towns would be losing their post offices. sure enough ours closed and another PO was immediately built just a few blocks away from the old one. The old office sat empty for several years. Then a brand new post office was built over the mountain a mile away. So, two tiny little towns that border each other both have a post office and the empty post office is being used as a court room.

We have 2 post offices, in a town of 8,000. Hamilton has boxes only & South Hamilton has boxes & truck delivery. We have a S. H. address & live in the NE section of town. therefore our mail is delivered by truck.

It's finally here!! Hurray! But I'm a sure someone read it. The tape that was supposed to seal it shut was cut open and I can tell there are finger prints on the pages. Oh well. I don't care as long as I got it and no pages are missing.

Well, for the inquiring mind(s)--I got AB Eastern Blush, Ochracea Caerula, Mme Cheri, Vishnu, and Vingolf pre-catalog. I also wanted Black and Gold, but didn't get my early order in early enough for that one I guess.

So far I have Tiny Pirate, Free as the Wind, and Tul Kerem written in pen on the order form...
and 11 SBDs plus Mariposa Wizard, Blackbeard, Painted Doll, Lunch in Madrid, and Cranfil's Gap on my ooh-aah list, but I've been working too much, too late and haven't made it thru the TB very well yet and it's past time for bed...

I do have a confession to make--I have decided I prefer the cleaner lines of the more tailored forms to the ruffles galore (heresy I know *Blush* ) I would love to pick some pretty and smooth-ish ones that smell divine, any suggestions?

Dirt Dolphins, you said "I do have a confession to make--I have decided I prefer the cleaner lines of the more tailored forms to the ruffles galore (heresy I know *Blush* )"

You'll be pleased to know that I heard an iris judge just recently say " I don't like ruffles!".

( uh oh. I love ruffles Hilarious! )

My answer is simple... I just love all of them. The old, the new, ruffled, or non-ruffled, flat, short to tall. I love the look of the old dog eared Iris. The only Iris I don't like are rotten or dead Iris and I think everyone here would agrees with that!

Dirt, I loved Black and Gold when I saw it at Superstition.. I'm sorry I didn't order it, now that I hear they're sold out. Wah! I got Vishnu last year from them and can't wait to see it's blooms. I started out liking the more tailored forms when I was trying to fit them into a garden setting.. Now it's all about ruffles and exclusive iris beds... hahaha!

Dirt, I've heard plenty of iris lovers say they dislike ruffles. I echo what others have said- I simply love 'em all! I have been looking longingly at several ABs lately. I only have one and haven't seen it bloom yet.

I love the AB's Neal. I have some that this will be their first year to bloom and I am very excited to see them.

I might have to wait until next year instead of placing another order here. I have spent so much already and haven't seen any of my new irises bloom yet. I want to add more fragrant ones, and Superstition seems to have a variety.
TB
Lemon Pledge - lemony
Notta lemon - "strong fragrance"?
Teasing tiger - sweet citrus
Historics
Fairy - "delightful fragrance"?
Medrano - wild grape
Snow flurry - delicious orange blossom
I ordered SDB chocolate swirl because it was described as having a strong chocolate fragrance on his Facebook page. A lot of others describe having a fragrance, but no notes on what it is like.

uh-oh
I am having a serious problem containing this ordering business...
and now I have fallen hopelessly for this one Lovey dubby

it is far too spendy for an iris, but I must have it!
I might have to 'white-out' some of my other choices
