Well, Lucy, we may be cousins too. My mother's father was half New England and half Southern . I have Sherman, Carpenter, Kellogg, Alden, Peabody, Chase, Baldwin, Hicks/Hix, Wells, Severance, Barney, Galusha, Stebbins, Brooks, Abell, Wheaton, Simmons, Winslow, Billings, Coggeshell, Bailey, Hathaway, Wood, Alexander, Allen and Smead, etc. I had a lot of family in Deerfield when the Indians attacked in 1710.. Some were taken to Quebec, so thre are relatives still up there.

My great grandparents (mothers side) were from England too. I'd have to ask my brother about the genealogy. He spent years researching it.

My Mom was born in England. Both of her parents were English and immigrated to the U.S. -- looking for work, as my grandfather was a coal miner.
