Heya! Sorry to have been absent more than not this week... I'll be online more again soon! Big Thank You to SSG and others who have helped out with the mechanics of the "seed swaps" tool, avatars, etc. :-)

Did y'all start putting dibs on seeds yesterday? Working OK?

CAM Dmailed me that he'll try to swing by the seed party but is in the middle of packing for his move... hopefully he'll take a break and let us wish him bon voyage!

hi, Critter--yes, it's all working great! Thumbs up Sorry I feel I don't have much to offer by way of seeds that others don't already have in abundance... Sad

hm
i played with the list and requested one of aspenhill's zinnias. I guess it will show that three are still up for grabs.
Nice seeds, people! sorry I can't take more advantage of them. It's not for lack of interest!
Plant it and they will come.

I was also able to request some. How can I tell who has requested seeds that I have posted? Still going to try to post more. Is there a place to request a certain type of seed?

I think I have talked one of my plant loving co-workers, Tami, into joining us on the 31st.

Gita - I am by no means an expert for WSing (my first year) but I have done a lot of reading to get ready to try it. I put my milk jugs in flats in the yard by a big rock that protects them from south winds. I think they will get about 7 hours of sun each day. I have seen other articles where they put them in the Tupperware shoe containers on there back porch patio table (my back porch does not get enough sun). I am so nervous about the snow on them but I am going to try to have faith the process will work.

Marta, I haven't done much winter sowing either, but I think the snow cover on them is actually supposed to be a good thing. I know that critterologist and greenthumb have done quite a bit of winter sowing and I'd be glad to coax them to talk about it to our hearts content when we get together for the seed swap next weekend Smiling Also, I'm going to go check out critter's articles on DG - knowing her, there is probably an article or two she has written about it Smiling

There is a "View your 'sold' items" option on the left above the seed swap. If someone has placed dibs on any seeds you listed, it will show up there. If you click on that option, it will tell you who and what seeds. I am guessing if that is not showing, no one has requested any yet.

Terri - yes, I bet we could get them to talk about it...that made me LOL. Jill did write an article - I have already read it. I'll try post a pic of my WS location later.

Pat - thanks for the info on where to find it - I found it.

Just finished posting all of my items - there's a bunch. If mine are gone let me know if you want more - I might have some and just did not make up a bag....actually ran out of bags to put them all it.....guess I will have to wait to go to the store to get more - LOL

Please note that it is the *right-sided* left as opposed to the left-sided left that many of you may have looked for. Directionally challenged, as always. Sorry.

I'm here! I'm coming! So glad to be back to the "old" Daves Garden format I really missed the colorful screen. I also was wondering where everyone went.

Catmint, no worries about having common vs. rare seeds... I can always use "extra" seeds for direct sowing, especially things like zinnias, marigolds, etc., and I'm sure others are the same. I have to go over to the tool tonight and get in a couple of dibs!

Does everybody have plenty of dibs? Does this system let you "roll over" unused dibs from one day to the next?

OK, somewhere I posted that our "snow date" if need be could be the following weekend (Feb 7/8), but I'm going to be in Wisconsin that weekend (Jim is holding down the fort). I think we have a few days before we need to decide whether or not to postpone the seed party... let's see how things shape up as the weather warms up and we get some rain.

Thanks, Critter. The system seems to send an increasing number of dibs with every new day. So on day 1 I got one dib, on day 2 two dibs, and so on. Pretty cool!

You probably can't officially join it anymore because trading has begun; new membership is halted at that point by "the system".
I don't think anyone would have a problem if you post the seeds in which you're interested (or have to offer) here, though, right Critter?
