Neal I was just looking at photos of Casseta last night. I need a close up please? I only have one split coronal daff, Apricot Whirl. Hey I'm talking daff lingo what a ways I have come! Hilarious!
@William I was bummed about my ipheon but look what was lurking underneath the larger flowers!

Larry my outside amaryllis have buds too! This will be the first time for them, I'm delighted. I was about to make a decision to bring them in for the next winter and try and force them.
And finally this has nothing to do with bulbs but I have been in the yard enjoying the fragrance of tea olives. The wind was blowing and the scent is amazing. Drooling

Jack, Lent Lily blooms look similar to Topolino in size and shape, but they're solid yellow and quite a bit taller. There's another clump in the outskirts of the yard I plan to dig late this spring, I'll send you some bulbs if you'd like. They're simple, but a joy being the first to open most years. And they're care free, just keep getting better year after year.

Here ya go Kabby. Cassata is a good one, multiplies and returns well. The split cup opens yellow and fades to ivory.

Oh Neal--love the drifts of massive daffodil clumps Lovey dubby
William is right, garden is too small a word!
When I had the farm in the midwest, I had that kinda thing going on, brings back fond memories of strolling thru the fields of gardens (and a bit of PTSD about the weeds Hilarious! )

I have one daff just starting now, Tete-a-Tete, showing a bit of yellow out there.
After this bit of snow, we are supposed to get back to spring...
hoping those nasty maggot makers didn't wipe out too many of my daffs!

Ahhh, amaryllis in the ground and tea olives--no can do here! zone envy again--wonderful you guys!

Thank you Neal, Casseta is going on the list for fall ordering. I looked in the B&B catalog for my white mini and they have an heirloom called Snowball. I wish they would tell size of the bloom although the height is right.

Dirt I have zone envy too. You can do delphiniums and lupines!

Sallysmom if Erlicheer was pure white it would match my mini. It has no yellow segments though.

Good night all, tomorrow I must return to the folds of the money making heathen. Sighing!

I've been enjoying all the photos of the blooming bulbs and thinking how much later my garden wakes up. Daffodils are still several weeks away from blooming for me here, even though daffodils are blooming at my parents' adjoining property. The different wooded slope sun exposure makes all the difference - mine slopes facing north, theirs slopes facing south. Was delighted to see the reticulated iris and snowdrops blooming this week though Smiling

Jack, the first 2 pics look like Monal that is blooming here now too. Love Sabatini- gorgeous!

Terri, your snowdrops are wonderful!

Bet, Brent and Becky's are a good source for lots of bulbs, but especially daffodils- they're daffodil hybridizers and offer an better selection than most vendors.

@Kabby - I have two delphiniums and have had lupines in my garden with no special care and they come back every year ... you might want to give them a try.

I, too, get most of my daffodils from Brent and Becky's, though a few from Scheeper's and Old House Gardens.

I'll chime in that I also get most of my daffodils from Brent and Becky's, and sometimes Van Engelen which is the larger volume sister company to Scheeper's.

My favorite daffodil is 'Hawera', but I haven't seen anyone post pictures of that one yet so I don't know if it is a favorite for any of you. I'll have some daffodil pictures to share in a few weeks.

Terri, Hawera is one of my favorites too- they have a unique look among daffodils, make me think of fairy flowers. They're a later one to bloom here, usually mid to late April is when they start blooming.

I ordered 10 Spellbinder daffodil bulbs from Scheepers last fall and the first blooms opened yesterday revealing that they are mislabeled. These are golden yellow large cup daffs, definitely not Spellbinder. I'm concerned that they are being phased out of commercial propagation- Scheepers/VanEngelen was the only source I saw still offering them last year Sad

@djinnevada Darcy it's a zone thing. In naivety I tried lupines one year, they didn't survive the summer. I've been talked into trying peonies for the first time, so I picked up a pack at HD. We'll see how that goes. Blinking

I hope so Jack, but these don't appear to have a trumpet length cup. The bloom in your photo facing off to the side shows off the long, flaring trumpet nicely. I think what I have would classify as a large cup, but I'll watch as they develop and get some photos. I grew Spellbinder several years ago and was impressed by the large blooms and how the white in the center made them glow in the garden.
