If you dig deeply, it's quite pale, so I would say closer to whitish.

Mika, your yard is a wonderland!

I'm drooling over William's photos.

All I have to offer is a photo of my Sweetness which has begun blooming.

Wow!
Enchanting yard indeed Mika!
and some outstanding portraits of beautiful bulbs (and friends) William!

Ann, remember also, you have pecans Lovey dubby among other things, that we can't even think about trying up here!

We have had spring explode here with nice warm weather and everything is coming all at once (of course it is pouring rain right now and might dump a bunch of snow too because that's the kinda thing that happens here Hilarious! ), but we have been so very busy trying to find the back yard for once since we moved here that I haven't yet had a chance to go through any pics lately--
Here are a couple from the other night
an overburdened trailer full of ailanthus--the evil tree-of-not-heaven, aka ghetto palm--and chokecherry stumps, and this is just part of what has yet to find its way down the mountain

I agree! Neal, Larry, Mika, William, Ann, and Dirt, what a treat to see the gorgeous blooms posted here. I love seeing how your various gardens are planted.

Inspired bulbs

Ipheion - Thumb of 2016-04-14/jmorth/d90e06 sole survivor
Before the wooden fence was installed, there were like 50 blooms in this area; the installers nearly wiped the star flowers out as well as some other bulbs: that was several years ago. I was surprised to see this one, I'd thought they'd been eliminated.

Mickey Mouse - this was once a discarded bulb, thrown out by the garage and subsequently covered w/ other garden debris, it's been coming back now for a couple of years, a near miracle for any but Darwin and species tulips.

Falconette - Thumb of 2016-04-14/jmorth/debed0. Just keeps on coming back...

Thumb of 2016-04-14/jmorth/1c7dd8 I'd guess a species tulip. I do't remember planting it and it's not on my garden map.

Kaydee -Thumb of 2016-04-14/jmorth/01f7d6
Kaydee next to Ice Wings, there used to be several clumps of Kaydee in the garden where they'd been placed after being forced (for years, Kaydee was my favorite daffodil forcer). This appears to be the last of those clumps. There's another Kaydee blooming on the other side of Ice Wings (from the same planting).

Mika, I think the Daffodil Society (a part of the Royal Horticultural Society I believe) is very active in the UK. I imagine you'll be able to find some really choice varieties!

Thanks, Neal - I've had a quick peek at their website and they do provide details of a number of suppliers. Oh my, there are some beauties out there! But I've spoken sternly to myself and think I should confine myself to one or two smallish orders for this year. I've already ordered far too many irises, too many hemerocallis, no doubt I'll order some David Austin roses once they release details of their newest offerings (normally at the start of the Chelsea Flower Show in May), and I need to top up on agapanthus (unusually I lost one this year and I adore them), there are hostas that I absolutely have to have, plus misc perennials, and I try to plant some trees every year... Not to mention the upkeep of our three ponds. So I have more than enough to keep me busy, and my bank account must be feeling the strain!
All that aside, there are some daffs that are definitely calling to me... Angel Whistling

The great thing about getting involved with clubs is members share and swap- you'll likely acquire lots of beauties without opening your pocketbook Smiling

I just started last year with the iris society, and then the daff society this spring. There are certainly some amusing personality types one runs into Rolling on the floor laughing I think a mockumentary about flower shows could be hysterical. If any of you have seen "Best in Show" the spoof about dog shows, you get the idea.

Rolling on the floor laughing oh now that would be hilarious indeed Rolling on the floor laughing I wish they would make another one like that spoofin' on us flower freaks Thumbs up I can even see the exaggerated mockumentary part about the peripheral likes of me too Rolling on the floor laughing

Yes--WORK--lots of it and only just getting started-- just made a big fat mess so far, wrecked a few water lines and the fence too Rolling my eyes. the real back breaking stuff is yet to come

Stratosphere, finally

Beautiful, Dirt and jm!
Neal, I've been to various RHS flower shows, but never to a plant show for just one type of plant. I hope to go to Chelsea again this year - the crowds are horrendous, but oh the sights! I agree that a mockumentary would be brilliant... Hilarious!
