We have had rain everyday since last Monday. Here are some pics I took on Friday.

Part of my front yard. It's hard to see the water because of all the floating leaves but it was over my ankles here.

No drought here, at least for now.

With all the rain we've had this past week, we decided to head to the lake for a few days. It was nice not to worry about watering pots for a few days. We came home to a jungle out back! I haven't seen any mosquitoes, but I'm sure they're there waiting for us. We were under a flood warning here last night. Barton Creek was rising quickly. We're on a hill, but it was still a little scary knowing the rain wasn't letting up. Our backyard looked like one of your photos, Horntoad. Lots of lightning too. Overcast this morning, but only a 30% chance of more rain. 'News said our area had 4" of rain yesterday. We have 5" in the gauge. Grateful for any rain.

We were hearing some rumblings this afternoon, but I think it passed around us now. We didn't get as much rain as most in Texas did, but I guess we're good. BTW, my DD is getting pretty exasperated! ABC World News was going to run a story about an asthma treatment that showed her doing a treatment, scheduled for Monday. And for 2 nights now, they've bumped that in favor of other news stories. So she said on FB that if anyone she knew was interested, just record it every night until the story comes on. Said something about politics and war being apparently more newsworthy! Ah, as far as I'm concerned, they could drop the politics entirely on TV news...I'd just as soon just read about that in the newspaper...so tired of it!

That's great, Linda! We always watch ABC evening news, I'll look for the segment! DH has asthma, among other lung problems. I'm interested in seeing this. You must be proud to have your DD being interviewed for national television.

Edited to add: I had to report for jury duty today. It seems like I'm the only one in our neighborhood who consistently gets tagged. At least this one wasn't for robbery or murder. It was DUI, etc. Thirty of us had to report for six slots. The bailiff told us there were a few lawyers that walked by and saw us outside the court room and possibly they were deciding whether to plea instead of going ahead with the jury trial. We all filed into the courtroom to be told by the judge thanks, but they had plea bargained and we weren't needed.

We had lots of rain, but it is long gone now. Going to be hot tomorrow afternoon. I still have strawberries, but no more tomatoes.

Guess it's time for my annual summer why-can't-I-just-quit-acquiring-plants? rant. I've had a lot of pain in my upper arms, shoulders and neck lately. Dr. put me on muscle relaxers last Friday. It's somewhat better now. But really...at my age, I need to simplify my life more. And just keep only plants that are low-maintenance. Gotta find that 12-step program for gardening addicts.

When you start your "program," let me know how it works out! I say the same thing every summer and still have to go see what's new in the nurseries. I bought a lot of salvias in early May, but I don't think most of them made it. One of them was Wendy's Way, and its supposed to be bullet-proof. Who can kill salvias? Apparently, I can. One of my running buddies spent a month in Canada. I just got a postcard from her to let me know she's on her way home, and "when can we go look at plants again?" I think she may have made it home before the card.

Sorry to hear about your pain. Do you think the weather has anything to do with it?

Not sure. The heat is really getting to me, but if it really is muscular, there had to have been some kind of injury or straining of the muscles. Maybe moving heavy stuff around...I have no help with things like that and am not exactly very strong. Should get back into the habit of excercising, at least.

San Antonio Airport evacuated for possible bombs, hundreds outside in 98° weather. Welcome to S. A., people and so sorry...not a good way to get to know the city!

Yep! A hoax...and yet, the threat was unusually specific and the bomb-sniffing dogs "alerted" when they sniffed those certain cars. Psychopaths are geting too good at this! And yes, sick or evil or both! Glad it's over!

I saw the bomb threat info on FB Linda. I would've been freaked out if we'd been there! We've had DSD and DSS fly through there a couple of times since it was cheaper. We both probably would have had heart attacks if they'd been exposed.

Sorry I've been missing of late. I visited DM and DD in PA at the end of June and July was just a crazy month. I'm head over to the college campus to get registered for classes this fall, which should be interesting since I've decided I want to change my major.

I decided to go in HR/HR Management. I even took one of those little tests to help me figure out if it was the right move - and it looks like a yes!

DH got a random phone call on Tuesday from a job recruiter from HP. He just finished talking to her and he's impressed by the numbers they were throwing at him. Should be interesting how it works out...

Sandi, we aren't planning to do that for quite awhile. Thumbs up The open HP position is here in Austin. HP actually has a pretty big campus on MoPac near Wells Branch. Closer than the Dell commute he rarely made!

Read something interesting today about orchids and clay pots that I'd love to try (all the orchids I bought at Millers last year still look amazing). When should we make a roadtrip to their nursery again? Big Grin I'm all ears! Whistling

We drove to Wimberley for lunch and passed by the nursery. I actually saw the sign! I'm ready to go anytime!
Did you get much rain? We had a downpour with lots of wind. Blew over most of my large pots. Heavy rain came from north for about ten minutes. Then it came from th south for about the same time. The rain tank was gushing out the top. I took some pics, but other than picking up the pots, I just couldn't do any more. The storm just sat over us. Really made a mess. We can clean it up tomorrow. Looks like Westlake took quite a hit.

A friend of mine was over at Davenport Village and she said some of the streetlights were broken after that storm.

We got a rumble of thunder....and that's it. The storms formed just south of us. I guess we got our fair share this time since those last storms a few weeks ago dumped about 8" of rain on us in a couple of days. My rain buckets are still in pretty good shape. I used the hose for a few nights (just because it was more convenient) on my porch plants and one of my plumis is mad at me for it. Most of the leaves turned yellow. Thumbs down

Do you have time any day next week for Millers? (other than Monday, need to get my oil changed)

I'll be starting school again on the 27th, so any day before that would be great! :D (I can drive this time...after I clean up my car a bit, that is) Hurray! Hurray!
