Growing up in Philadelphia I remember getting ready for any 'canes that headed our way. The house had real usable shutters that got closed. The assorted critters ie: rabbits, ducks and chickens all were brought into the basement. Planters were secured and branches were cut back. So I was wondering what ya'll are doing to get ready for a visit from Irene? Especially now when you are likely looking at getting ready for fall and winter anyway. Be safe!

Garden is on its own, only one DL in bloom. Brought in my favorite garden statue 'cause I didn't want pine branches falling on it. the other one is on its own. Mainly worry about our tulip tree branches they sre no nice in bloom & draw the orioles.
Otherwise nothing to dooutside, comfort inside is something else & no longer have pets.

We put away anything that can go airborne, hubby got the generator ready today(we had it for 3 years and hadn't needed it) hubby still has to tie down the gas grill tomorrow.

Picked up some chafing gel fuel, gas in both truck and car and extra in container, hubby hit atm for some cash on hand...guess that's pretty much it, my pantry is always stocked so nothing needed there

I grew up on Long Island and we had many hurricanes back then, now I'm up north and not to worried, for us here it will be the wind & downed trees. Yesterday I gathered up all my containers and put them away, I'm praying the wind wont kill my elephant ears & cannas,one can only hope for the best. I've got plenty of food & water & ice & candles. I've got chicken cooking now just in case we loose power. It will be here tomorrow at this time 1:00 STAY SAFE......

LOL, Jen! I would like your husband! Hank is getting ready to BBQ ribs here too so we'll have something to eat while we watch the winds and rain devastate the gardens. Bill's birdhouse has been put away, so I'm all set now. lol

We'll certainly lose power for awhile, so don't expect to hear from me for awhile. Stay safe everyone!!

We had a tornado warning for our exact area, I did see a bright green flash in the distance which indicates tornadic activity, they told everyone to get to the lower area in your house. That was a little unnverving to say the least.
