Sally - some limbs last much longer than others. I really like the longevity of driftwood, my favorite for use as accents in the gardens. I haven't used them for bird houses but I will as soon as I find the right piece.

I love your thoughtfulness and sense of humor. If any basketball players should happen by, I am sure they will be comfortable on your new bench. LOL
Gary
Thanks, Gary. If it should happen that a few basketball players arrive they could sand down a spot on the porch ceiling for me because I'd have to get on a ladder to do it. They could unload "stuff" from the very high storage wall in the garage. I'd be generous and go to the dump with all of it. The more I look around the more I see jobs for them!
Our area is called a peninsula for good reasons! As long as the water stays where it is I don't get to hear it lapping and don't want to hear it at home!
The minute I spotted that piece I knew I'd make it fit even if I had to leave clothes behind!

You ladies are doing some very creative stuff with what most people consider to be scrap.
Pirl, Jo Ann and others, your gardening skills and creativity always inspire me improve.
My main project this year is to do some rearranging. Expanding the daylily seedling bed and cutting out some sod after the willow stump is ground down. DW want me to diversify the front garden so I better get on it if I want to continue to live here with her under the same roof.
I am doing mostly seed starting this year. Only buying some complimentary plants for the grand scheme of things. front bed
Inspiring photos, everyone! I really love the way that driftwood looks with the plants in/by it. What a gorgeous silvery colour - mmm... You should send in a photo next time around for the 'container' category in the photo competition.
Love your home and the glorious garden, Mike. Starting from seed is a long process - we've been through it often enough. Have fun!
Mika - I love the color of the driftwood as well. I've entered the photo of that piece of driftwood many times and it's never won. The stump and clematis has been a winner, thankfully.
Mike,
Nice daylily bed!!! I would love the chance to make a bed bigger, but I already have and they are outlined in black border. That's as good as ''set in stone.''
I'll bet your wife would keep you in the end.
Pirl,
Try again. How many neat driftwood plantings could there be? I think the wood is gorgeous!
