I am so jazzed about this article and know you purslane lovers will be too. Thi sis about the health benefits of consuming purslane. I am posting it in our busiest forum plus in one other that deals with purslane as a food source.

At least two of the wild type plants came up recently!

Thank you for this thread. I've only read the first four pages, but I think I am going to have to take another look at this plant.
My soil was totally dead when I bought this property and I am gardening in glacier slurry. Purslane is the first weed that showed up after I removed the decorative rock and weed barrier from the gardening area. I was told it was a weed and to get it out of the garden because it so terribly invasive, so I have treated it as a weed.
I don't know the plant that is showing up here is a "wild" form or something the previous owner of my home cultivated, but it certainly is a pernicious plant.
I'd provide a photo, but we have had a haze of smoke from wildfires hanging over this area for several weeks and nothing looks good. I plan to go out and wash all of the plants today. I've been told the ash is making leaf surfaces more acidic and that is what is causing problems with the plants.

I had purslane in baskets, pots and any kind of planter one year and when it got very cold, it finally dies back. But the next spring, it began growing in the ground from the seeds that had scattered. It was the ornamental variety in hot pink, yellows and oranges. What a garden I had that year!
