I'm not sure. I sent Dave loads of them...but some he rejected due to size restrictions etc...many he used. They are so much fun!

Today I was laughing as one of my "pet" hummingbirds got so excited because he couldn't make up his mind between the orange purslane, his feeder and the hot pink purslane. Maybe I can capture his picture later.

Okay, I 'll try. Linda they don't seem afraid of me if I'm out on the balcony first....but it's just so hot!

Well, It's just too hot to sit outside waiting ... plus I'm too busy at the moment. But I did capture this one yesterday through my window.

My hummers are stingy and won't drink at the same time. I can tell there are several because of size and attitude ( ) but they like to drink alone. I had a few swarming around one day until the bravest swooped in for the first drink.

That hummer is HUGE. Ours have been very hungry this season. I think I've filled their feeder well over a half dozen times in the last few weeks. Probably thirsty in all this heat.

I have a lot of smaller ones. I think this is the boss hummer!

My purslane are all in a weird growth pattern: no blooms but full of buds. Probably because they are in pots and not the ground. I really am stumped!

Oh, but when those buds open, you will have a BURST of color!!

Love the hummer photo! We have lots of them here too. I have 10 hummer feeders, and I have to fill them everyday!

I love the hummingbirds! There aren't many here, so I really have to watch for them. Hummingbirds need a lot of nectar to maintain their high metabolism. Not to mention small insects for protein! I worry about them in this drought...not many blooming plants these days. I really try to keep my hummer plants blooming...I wouldn't want them to get completely dependant on the feeder.
