I thought these white crocuses would stand out and look so pretty in my shady front yard. Glare But when they first started blooming, I thought someone had thrown white tissues on my lawn. Shrug! They're much prettier close up.

These hellebores are just full of blooms.

OKAY!---
I decided this is as good a time as any to post my OTHER Poem I wrote re my garden.
It certainly is seasonal!
Not to brag--but I consider this Poem my Masterpiece. I have read it many times--
and I still cannot believe that I wrote it.
You all from DG--you have already seen this and read it. SO--you all from ATP that have not----

I wish the pretty font I have it saved in would come through to here...but--it will show only as reg. print.
You can c/p it and make it any font you want it to be in.

I GIVE YOU---"THE GARDEN WAKES"....with lots of LOVE in my heart.
I still tear up--every time I read it.....hmmmm---I wonder why?
**************************************************************

The Garden Wakes…..
(Gita  Veskimets-- April, 2007)

The Garden wakes--
It's breast heaves slowly.
With all its dormant strength
it takes a breath
and blows away the remnants of Winter.
And it feels renewed.

The Garden wakes--
It sighs at all yet to be done
and hopes of glorious things to come.
It drinks in the dew in the morning
and the rain of the night.
And its thirst is quenched.

The Garden wakes--
It wipes the sleep from its eyes
and is blinded
by all the glory and the color
that laid beneath the earth so long.
And it revels in things well done.

The Garden gives--
Unselfishly--of all the bounty it has cradled
in it's loving arms;
And at days end
it rolls itself up in the green, green grass
And it rests.

The Garden sighs--
The burden now heavy on it's chest.
It gasps for cool air
and thirsts for refreshing rains and soothing nights
that now come so seldom--
And it tires of the effort.

The Garden struts--
It’s wondrous wardrobe of the Fall,
lovingly embroidered with the colors of the setting Sun,
and feels that it was a job well done.
And before the golden yarns unravel from its cape,
it lays its head on the soft, fallen leaves—

The Garden sleeps.

I'm really hoping these blooms survive the cold weather.

Japanese spirea that bloomed a bit last December but is blooming profusely now.

THat is beautiful, Aspen. I love the magnolias.

(Sorry I have been incognito for a few weeks--we are currently understaffed at work and so I've been doing other people's jobs as well as my own-- very exhausted these days...)

Thanks Catmint. I figured you had gotten really busy with either work or your daughter's activities. Hope they plus up those staffing levels soon - don't they know gardening season is starting Hilarious! No fun to be spending so much time at work and hope you aren't getting too burned out.

Like someone said, it IS only March. Some things seem early and others are waiting.

We got the trench dug for electrical from the house to garage. I moved more rocks, and planted one of my Brugs out in the new bed, nice south facing wall. Split up some Stella D'oro clumps, before they get too leafed out; moved a few small things. Planted a shrub I grew from seed, from a Calycanthus in the Asian collection at the Arboretum. Back hurts but I just can't stop digging...
Plant it and they will come.

Our Spicebush is in bloom. The flowers are tiny, but I've ID'd ours as a male plant. The male flowers are showier, but produce no berries.

The Euphorbia amygdaloides is at its peak.

A shot of the tulip that I think may be a species tulip. I inherited it with the house. I had to take the photo mid-day because it's closed in for the evening when I have time to take photos.

David ...

Thank you for giving me the nudge to look it up. I think it is 'Persian Pearl'.

I am just guessing. 'Eastern Star' is more lavender colored and has a different petal shape.

Lyn - apparently T. humilis = T. pulchella, so they are similar cultivars of the same species. Going and checking them both I cannot say I am able to discern a difference. Confused
