Aaah ... I miss the pine trees we used to have years ago and the pine straw mulch they provided. When we moved into our house in 1975 there were many pines on the property but unfortunately tall pines are easily struck by lightning so we lost some to lightning as well as wind, then more were removed when we put the swimming pool in. I'm always amazed when I visit my sister in north Georgia and see bales of pine straw for sale at garden centers there. I'm used to seeing folks down here rake and bag the pine needles for yard trash pickup. Pine straw sure makes good mulch for Azaleas, Rhododendrons, Gardenias and other acid loving plants.
