We get hundreds and hundreds of kids. We've always had a lot in almost 30 years that we've lived here. When this was a new subdivision, the kids all lived within. Now they come from other poorer,neighborhoods I think, and parents drop off vans full of them. The subdivision is mostly white people, and few black families. But the trick-or-treaters don't live here - lots of black kids, Mexican, Asian... I don't know where they come from, but I imagine neighborhoods that aren't too safe, or where people don't give out candy, or something like that.
It's always fun. Neighbors sit outside and give out candy for 2 hours. After that we have a little outdoor party, several families on our block. We stay outside and freeze, have a fire pit in the driveway, everyone brights snacks and hors d'oeuvers, and lots of beer.

but we had 80 something kids last year.. and been growing every year that we have been doing it.. we started off with only 20 when we moved here... where my mom lives in the city.. she goes through tons of treats.. so I was used to that city volume... bought lots of candy.. and only had 20 kids.. Randy and I were taking candy to work for weeks.. and the reason we started counting.. so I don't get too out of hand with buying stuff ... and that first year.. boy was I pouting that there were no kids... but we saw parents were bringing car loads here last year.. and it's funny they don't go up past my neighbors house because the street is so dark up there.. a few years ago the one neighbor came here to give her candy out.. she said no one went up there.. and she was bored
