His response... I'd really like to get come Dutchman's Breeches. You just don't see them any where.

I have one pot each of these 2 plants to offer:

Myrtle Euphorbia (Euphorbia myrsinites) - one plant with well-developed roots; I dug it up and stuck it in a pot today.

Aaron's Beard (Hypericum calycinum) - one pot with several plants that will spread quickly

I'll be running to Aldi tomorrow morning (Friday). If anyone wants me to pick up something, be sure to post before 08:30. (I like to go at opening... less crowded.) When I was there yesterday, they had both straight and corner shelves, the obelisk 2-pack and 3-stack planters.

So I went to Wegman's tonight to pick up chicken and some other things... and I stopped by Lowes "just to see" what was on their clearance shelves. I scored! And I'll share...

I have two fat 12-packs of annual dianthus, mixed colors, $3 each. The plant looks like sweet william by the leaves, but it's blooming at just a couple inches tall. Label just says "Dianthus sp" and "annual."

Also on the $3 rack, some sweet little azaleas in gallon pots. I could be talked out of most of them... bought what looked like the best of the lot, 3 'Fashion', 3 'Pleasant White', 1 'Glacier White'... hmm, I bought 11 but can't remember the others LOL One was something-Marie, a soft pink... maybe 3 of those also and 2 'Glacier White'? That would make 11 LOL. I need one of the pink ones, the others are up for grabs... and if nobody wants them, I'll put them in the tree-line. Smiling Except for 'Fashion', because that one looks coral-pink to me.

SSG, I got you a $3 hanging basket of trailing vinca (annual kind) with magenta flowers... as a basket, it looks a little rough, but the plants look healthy. If you don't want it, I'll find a spot, but I thought of you when I spotted it.

Also, I picked up 2 more Chaenomeles Doubletake Pink Storm (got one for myself earlier). It's a nice variety from the "Proven Winners" line. I have a little one I bought a couple years ago... these are bigger! Looks like a 3 gallon pot, and they are well-branched shrubs.. $18.50.
We're all learners, doers, teachers.

@rickm, if you could pick up 2 of the straight 3-tier shelves for me, that would be wonderful! Thank You!

@critterologist, thank you for the vinca! I'll just take apart the hanging basket. Big Grin

I'd also like one of the Chaenomeles, please!

Here finally is my list what I have. I am taking off from work today, and dig the plants out.
I have big hosta, several different kinds. Do not know the names. The markers have disappeared.
I have blue mouse ears hosta.
I have lamb ears.
I have lemon balm.
I have rooted, still in water scented geraniums, also unnamed, given by my boss at work a few years ago, hers have died, she got and planted a cutting from me last month! Smells wonderful.
can cut leaves to root of unknown Queen of the Night (sounds funny!). Have not bloomed yet for me. Actually one did bloom, must be smallish, but I missed seeing it in glory, saw it the next morning, all wilted. They open at midnight and wilt soon after, I guess that is why people do not want them. In Indonesia, they believe that luck will come to you when they bloom Rescued from a plant sale and nobody bought them nor wanted them, and I did not have to heart to see them tossed out. Found this info:
http://homeguides.sfgate.com/g...

Want:
lemon basil (kemangi in Indonesian)
rosella (sour leaves for Burmese cooking--hibiscus family)
torch ginger
Dutch Breaches
Bleeding Hearts
saffron (fall blooming crocus)
been looking for this for years: iris with translucent true blue color, do not know the name, co-worker brought it to work about maybe 25 years ago. She did not know the name either, she did not plant it. Do not remember the color of the beard, it was very beautiful, I have ordered blue irises, but so far have not found one like it. I remember that the color gets lighter towards the center, so maybe the beard may be white or yellow. Maybe the picture in my brains have changed?

Food:
I am going to bring Ensalada frutta (Salvadorian fruit drink) do I need to bring ice, or is there enough available?
Fried rice noodles (vegetarian)
And if available at the butcher's tomorrow morning: goat or lamb liver satay with Indonesian soy sauce marinade.

Jill, have you tried the red-white-and blue brioche from Wegman's. My favorite bread. Some of the people at the counter do not know that it is a brioche, if you are interested, just ask for red-white-and blue. Only sold during the warm seasons. First one out last Sunday, May 1st. If you are interested, they have berry countainers made by Hutzler, rather expensive, all kinds of different colors, cost there $7.99. At Amazon they are around $11.00 and up. They are nice, 3 parts. Last week they were more expensive at Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005BPZBEY/

Francine, good luck with digging in the rain!

I'm bringing a few water rooted spider plant cuttings courtesy of Gita, and leaves of RIc rac epiphyllum to make into cuttings.
Plant it and they will come.

@tantefrancine - if I've already asked for any of these my apologies. Happy to take both of the hostas if not spoken for as well as scented geraniums.

I already have Queen of the Night and it blooms yearly - they seem to like being pot bound so check and see if maybe the pots too big for it. Mine is still in a 4 or 6" pot and is BIG.
“Little girl, why are you doing this? You can’t save all these starfish. You can’t begin to make a difference!” After a few moments thought, she bent down, picked up another starfish & hurled it as far as she could into the ocean. Then she looked up at the man and replied, “Well, I made a difference to that one!” Be the change you wish to see in the world. http://www.stillsthatspeak.com...

Back from Aldi (and Lowes)

Aldi Run
@Critterologist & @RobinBunch5 - I was able to get a set of obelisks for Robin, if you still need them. I'll bring them along anyway. If Robin doesn't need them, someone else might.

@SSGardener - I got your two sets of straight shelves.

Lowes Run
They are marking things down like made fools. Apparently, the have too much stock. I picked up some quart yellow callas for $3 a pot! Also got some seed geraniums for $1 pot.
I'm thinkin' I have enough annuals for those color pops around the yard. Then again ... Green Grin!

Just got back in: got some lamb ears, the blue mouse ears (some of them) and a big lump of 5 or six big hosta. I will try to get some more out. They are so crowded it is difficult to get them out. I am lucky it is raining, so the clay may be sticky, but at least not as hard as a rock. Chantell, I will put the scented geranium in a pot.
I will also get out the lemon balm.
I also have some flowering white irises with yellow in the middle. I can spare 2 if anyone wants them. And I can spare 1 I think of loopy loop or something like that, white with purple rims. I have only 1 Batik out and one pretty yellow out, maybe in a few years I will have extra ones.

Mothers Day weekend is biggest plant sales weekend of the season. ie when most 'product' is in the stores. I can imagine with this weather how backed up stores and growers are right now!! Give your bargains a chance to dry off some and some good air circulation to prevent mold/mildew/rot/slime. space to breathe.

Ok seed swap thingie gurus - if when I click on the notification there is nothing listed then no one has placed 'dibs' via that method....correct? I just want to make sure someone hasn't asked for something through that and they get overlooked... Sighing!
