Sally---
I had NEVER planned to take a root-clump to the Swap! Confused There would not be room in your car.
Aina has not dug the 2up yet-- She may do so and put it on Free-Cycle.
EVERYTHING grows in Aina's vclay-ee soil! It is just amazing!! Beats me what is in that dirt???

I have the cuttings (like I gave you) --might root them and see if there is any interest at the Swap.
I would not have room in my garden for one of these...

Sally, you introduced me to the Montauk daisies, and I love them! I have several clumps in the back bed and also in the front yard. They get "leggy" but otherwise do nicely for me. I let them tangle up with other plants, so I don't worry if they flop around.

I have pictures of my Carolina jessamine on the garden chat thread. One little part of it has rooted in a funny spot and needs to be dug out. It's just one little rooted shoot but I think it'll transplant ok.

I'm also digging up a 'Sparkling Burgundy' Eucomis. It's planted in the ground and 100% hardy for me, even in clay soil, but it's now in too much shade and gets floppy.

They're both up on the swap tool!

I'm looking for interesting looking hardy succulents to plant in a trough-style hanging container. Something not too tall, or something with a trailing habit. Maybe some dark-colored hens-and-chicks?

Holly and Ric, do you still have extra spotted dead nettle?

Ok, a couple more things that I'm offering. One is 'Foxtrot' tulip that I just posted on the First Flowers of Spring thread. I have maybe about 15 of these. I don't think it's the kind that perennializes well, so I'll be tossing mine once they're done blooming, unless someone really wants to try to store them dry this summer and replant them.

The other is a fantastic noid daylily. I think I got it from a daylily hybridizer in McLean, VA. She's one of those gardeners who has hundreds and hundreds of daylilies, and this might be one of her noid creations. I distinctly remember it being very tall for a daylily, around 4 feet, but it's really short in the pictures I found. Shrug!

Sorry that's so shadowy. Maybe this one from 2014 is a better picture. Wow, this part of the garden has really changed in 2 years!

Thumb of 2016-04-02/ssgardener/3c8a69

I think this is the same one. Confused

Thumb of 2016-04-02/ssgardener/5dbffc

I also have a ton of beebalm 'Raspberry Wine.'

Life is "mind over matter". If I d
Aina did put her 2 clumps of Montauk Daisies on Free Cycle--and a woman came to claim them.
She even helped Aina dig them up--NO small task!

Yesterday--I stuck all the M-Daisy sections in pots of soil. I had had them in water,
but they were not doing anything...So--I now have 12 pots. Will see if they root???

I tried to find photos of the 3 massive clumps Aina had--but did not. Wish I knew the year!
I did find one picture taken in June, 2011. This may be the 3rd year she had it. ...Not sure...
Here is how big it was already...

SSG, I don't think that marking something a 5star gives any sort of 'dibs' on a plant...as the tool as set up now only gives each participant 2 requests from their 'wish list' on the first day trading is open. So, first come first served. If Catmint isn't first to click on Gelsenium at start of trade, she won't get your plant. And, if you wish to reserve Gel for Catmint then you should probably take it off your tade list and keep track of what you have promised to others (parsley! for me) defeating the record keeping nature of the tool! We can't see what is on anyone else's wish list.

If you look at my sample listings, I have tried to incorporate a way of listing a plant and marking it RESERVED and for whom.

Personally, I feel we should have our traditional Haves and Wants thread andthen see how and in what ways the Swap tool is useable/useful

I've started a Haves and Wants thread for us here
The thread "Spring Plant Swap Haves and Wants" in Mid Atlantic Gardening forum

Swap tool trading starts tomorrow!!!!

Hey, Mariposa, can you put me down for some of your Agastache 'Black Adder'? I will also request it via the swap tool when it opens tomorrow.

Yep, swap trading via the "seed swaps tool" starts tomorrow... no worries if you're not ready at the opening bell. I was wandering around the garden this afternoon, noting some things I need to put on my list!

I think we should give the trading tool a try, because the record keeping aspect of it is really easy... it seems simple enough (if awkward) to pretend it says "plants" rather than "seeds" and put a description of the size/type of plant being offered (seedling, cutting, bare root division, etc) in the "number of seeds per packet" field.

That said, if you want to put a post in the "haves and wants" thread where you can make notes for things you can't easily track using the tool, that makes sense. You can do have & want lists as we used to do, too... although I do think it will get confusing if you try to list offers using BOTH the haves/wants thread and the tool.

Trading via the "Seed Swaps" tool starts after midnight tonight! If you don't sign up for the swap before trading starts, you can still "join the swap" using the tool -- BUT you will have to tell me, and I'll tree-mail Dave, and he'll add you manually.

I've made the various swap threads 'stickies' at the top of the midatlantic forum thread list, for easy finding!

Catmint, click on "manage your own swap list" link here. http://garden.org/apps/swap/vi...

Make sure to click on each checkmark so the gray check turns to green. This extra step is to confirm that your plant/seeds are for this particular swap, not the other active swaps.

Yeah, I missed that step too!

SSG. I have a sedum 'October Daphne' that you might like for your hanging trough. Up to 4" tall by 10 " wide..silvery grey leaves, pink flowers in Fall. LMK

Does anyone have any extra Black and Blue salvia? It's often praised by this group but I've never grown it myself.

Also, any extra golden bleeding hearts?

I think my oakleaf hydrangea may have made an offshoot!
Oakleaf Hydrangea (Hydrangea quercifolia Snow Queen™)
Would anyone like a tiny rooted oakleaf?

Same thing goes for my native honeysuckle, Lonicera sempervirens. Coral Honeysuckle (Lonicera sempervirens)
It has rooted offshoots I could dig up. Very small right now, but they grow fast.

I've come to appreciate Sedums more & more! I can probably get bits and pieces from quite a few as they come up here... not sure of names on all of them (my labeling system has becomes hit or miss the last few years, and a lot of the sedums are more recent additions). I love that low silvery one, Yehudith! I'm hoping my "Teeny Tiny" sedum comes back well so I can share it around... Sally gave it to me years ago, and it's adorable.

OK, going to see about putting some things on my swap list...
