The neighbor on the other side of us, where i don't mow, mows only the front half of his lawn that shows from the street. The rest, about 12 ft sq. hides behind his large bed, gets ignored. It is the area that I get to see from my kitchen window.

The sad thing is she still does not get that she is wrong she says she will call the police I say go ahead. A few times I saw them walking away shaking their heads, they never say anything to us. This has been going on for years. Even her own sons say do not hold what she says against them. She should be very grateful that she is not my neighbor, somehow every leaf around here would end up in her yard.

Wow did I get the responses and ideas, great ones too. We do have a huge compost bin area but I was concerned that too many leaves and not enough of other stuff
was not a good ratio. We put all our veggie leftovers in it and mower shavings in the season. I remember when we lived at the mobile home park we had a chain link
fence and ran a bamboo type mat all along it for privacy, and something like that would also solve another problem besides leaves, when my dogs are in the back yard
(which is all day since I work 8-10 hours a day, and 10 days in a row, yuk) anyway the dogs may not bark at what they cannot see. We live just yards away from a park
and people are constantly walking their dogs or taking walks and mine see them and bark and bark....and I am always concerned what barking is going on
while I am gone all day. I am retiring I hope in 6- 9 months and will have time to do more in the yard and meet her....I know all the other neighbors. I see she has
a daughter come over in spring and summer to mow and have spoke to her in the past, we was talking about the woodchuck that lives in the elderly ladies yard.
And when that daughter comes over she brings her dog so it can run along the fence and play with ours....so I missed opportunities to meet the actual woman that lives there, I have seen her in nice weather sitting out a table and reading, the only time I see her out, so I could do a short little general chat and then let her
relax and read her book. Thanks all, I will also be Googling deer fence and fence weaving material. AND, my goodness, a woman calling the police because of leaves?!
That was extreme....extreme crazy! Hilarious! Grumbling

When I had more browns than greens, I just added new greens to the center and mixed them enough to bring plenty of browns into contact with the new greens. Then I harvested compost form the center.

That didn't get hot, but my pile has always been too small to heat up noticeably.

I sure will put the leaves in there. It is a big square area in the very back part of my yard that my husband fenced in and made a entry door,
it is quite the handiwork and I should have some good compost this spring since the heaps are 2 years old now.

That's the technique -- or lack of -- that I use. Lawn clippings and leaves are a good combo!

Bob -- I'm guessing that neighbor is not a gardener Whistling

We watch a lot of "House Hunters" on TV -- on one episode a young woman who was looking for a house didn't want any nearby trees because they just attract birds and the birds are too noisy. Not sure whether to Rolling on the floor laughing or Crying about that one!

you can also bag them up and moisten them, turn the bag every couple weeks, they rot quickly. Works even better if you add some grass clippings.

Sandy,
It's a nice little town. Until they die, or move closer to family and doctors, most people here are long timers I grew up with.

Oh geeze Rick!
That was close!! He was a good old guy tho :o)

Bob,
It takes all kinds....

Deb,
Oh yum! That was nice of them!
One of my new neighbors made sure she came over and introduced herself as soon as she moved in. She's the one we help by cutting out trees and other things. In exchange for dog sitting we get all her apples. She's been a good neighbor and so have we. Right now we're trying to live trap a possum that might be under her house, lol!

Rick!
Rolling on the floor laughing

Bob,
Rolling on the floor laughing over ALL your leaves in her yard.

Linda,
Leaf mulch is also pure gold.

Rick,
That's basically my pile too. Eventually it turns to dirt.

Sandy,
That is funny! I was sitting outside listening to the birds and the fertilizer plant across the road flipped a switch and a machine started running. So much for quiet time.

Definitely meet her & spend a few minutes getting to know her. Sounds like she can't do any yard work & her daughter can only spend a little time on her yard. I think she would welcome a little companionship. Not only Boy/Girl Scouts but churches are a good place to see about yard work for her.

I saw that episode too! I have likely seen them all. Did you see the one where a woman wanted a big bedroom so she could make a
breakfast knook? Or how about the guy who wanted high ceilings so he could fly his airplane. And the one where a woman wanted
her own closet separate from her husbands because she cannot stand it if someone elses clothes touch hers!

I love the ones that insist they MUST have a professional kitchen, even though they don't actually cook...

And then there was the gal who just had to have an impressive foyer, with a grand piano -- but of course didn't know how to PLAY a piano.

I have been into real estate as a side interest for 30 yrs. People have some crazy thoughts going through their head when they buy houses.

The one thing that always amaze me is people that want a big gourmet kitchen and live on takeout and eat out. Do they think these kitchens come with a chef?
