Started out at 23f and sunny, warmed up right around 60. Tomorrow they are saying 70 with rain. The big change will be Sun. - Mon. when the temp is suppose to drop to teens with possible snow in the forecast...again. Maybe they'll be wrong Whistling
Noticed a few hyacinths poking up while cleaning the deck beds today and the garlic I planted last fall is up at least an inch.
Glad to hear Kelli and Linda have cooled off a bit!
Hail is no fun for the garden. My worst fear is a hail storm right as bloom starts. All those scapes and buds....

Thank You! Char. Smiling

That is quite a temperature swing you are facing. Poor plants do not know which way to go, wake up, or stay sleeping! Crying

My daffodils are just starting to bloom and we are expecting real cold weather over the weekend. Right now it is raining and supposed to rain for 3 days.

It is pouring rain here, with a temperature at 9 a.m. of about 40 f. We still have a lot of snow on the ground, which is unusual. I would normally be expecting to see crocus the first week of April. However, the snow that came last Thursday is still on the ground. I think this is because it really wasn't snow that fell, rather it was a mixture of hard ice pellets, about 4 inches of those, topped by a thick coating of ice and it seems to be taking a long time to melt. Here are two photos from my verandah yesterday morning.

There are usually crocus blooming the first week of April around the angel near my pond. There are daylilies under there, too!

I hope you have warm temps and sunshine soon. That type of snow/rain/ice pellets really makes it difficult for the wildlife too.

Yes, it is a very thick crust, and really slippery. I can imagine the deer are having a hard time with it.

Coming home from the doctor yesterday , we encountered a stretch of freeway that was wet for about a mile. It had rained there. It didn't rain at home. They are calling for a high of 74F today.

You cant possibly get any rain Phillip, it has all been dropped in my backyard!

We had torrential rains today , all day and now night and the clay out there is turning to muck and you take your life in your hands going into the pig pen here ......sinking almost up to your knees in muck . The pigs don't look like they have any legs when they are moving around in the pen. They look like they are floating on that sea of mud. They seem to really love it though.

And just for something different this coming week , we are moving into a polar vortex that is going to freeze everything solid for the next week . What a freaking mess.
Can it get any worse? Spring and sun and niceness better get here soon ......I am getting very tired of all this !

Hilarious! Your story of the pigs in the mud brought back memories of when we used to raise a few pigs. Lost my boots a few times!
Yesterday was a day for the birds. The feeder was busy, cardinals, house sparrows, juncos, goldfinches....and my first red winged blackbird of the season Hurray! Just in time for the temp to drop again on Sunday night...maybe this will be the last time? Worked out in the garden cleaning off what I call the "box" bed, a large rectangular bed where selects and lined out intro's grow. Seeing a bit of green on the dl's finally! We didn't get the rain or the 70 degree mark they were forecasting, but 65f and cloudy was feeling mighty nice.

The nuns orchids I have inside will be put back out in the yard today. They have finished blooming and we enjoyed them while they were inside. Thumbs up
Any day you wake up on the sunny side of the grass is a good day.
