Barbie was one doll I didn't care if I had. I liked my baby dolls and all the clothes Mom made. Tiny Tears was a favorite.

I remember those bubbles. I think we had one tube and it was enough to satisfy.

I remember Tiny Tears... I don't think I had that one.

You know what I remember? The smell of a new doll.... It was like no other. And, dolls came in boxes too.... and then the soft bodies came...like Drowsy...that was after my doll years.

I read the other day that some of the Garbage Pail kids cards are worth a fortune! My son had those.

I tried to find an old Sit and Spin. A GOOD one ..with the good fast wheel bearings...later ones got doctored for safety...had a kind of drag" on the spinning. Ebay had upwards of $125!!

Baby doll smell....YES! the best, thanks for that memory!!

I don't know tiny tears

Funny how I forget something that happened yesterday but those memories made when the brain was almost brand new...,well, those are still pristine

I don't know tiny tears either...but was I ever a barbie fan. My neighbor gave me her old original dolls and I passed them on to a cousin who destroyed them Oh how I wish my mom had saved them.

I used to knit and sew tiny clothes...( they all looked the same! ) no $$ for store bought but I don't remember playing with the doll. I remember the striped bathing suit ..,but my go to teen fashion doll was Tressy

I remember being envious of my girlfriend, she had all the nefangled stuff, Ken doll, cars and townhouse. My parents weren't into buying us every thing we wanted. I'm grateful for that now

I'm starting to think we lived under a rock, I don't know Tressy either

Sally, I didn't like Barbie dolls either. I was getting to the end of my "doll years" by the time she became such a hit. I liked the baby dolls better too. I think I have an old Tiny Tears down in the basement. This is the one I had.

This is thumbilina and tressy the hair growing doll ( she had many looks but this is the earlier) and drowsy

And i ran across this - I loved the kitchen colorforms

I remember the white paste in the big tubs..it would dry on the hands and we could peel later!
And those lovely big tubs of clay in school!

Of course there were the DREADED vaccination days.... And the bomb drills..."'get under the desks! The Russians are coming!"

It is a rainy day...what can I say...I am remembering all sorts of things...

How can we forget the pastel bathrobes with the shine and the pinchy material! We kids got new PJs or robes ( not both ) at christmas...my mom bought the pretty and not the practical.. Not warm either!

I remember Thumbelina too! Felt real special in my mother's fancy robe and those barret in my hair!

I remember there being a closet in the basement and in it a box filled with high heels and old clothes from my mother and older sisters. Me and my friends would go down there and dress in those things ..heels ...purses, costume jewelry...it was a magic! Do you think little girls feel the same way about these things or are they beyond that with everything that is available to them? I often wonder if kids are kids no matter what their "times" are...I sure hope so because those old clothes were a ticket to another place beyond that old basement.

I understand that magic...My Great Aunt had a closet like that and it was fair game. For a while my favorite thing was the "mink stole" we found. It was so soft...I loved it right up to the moment my Dad asked my Mom why we were dragging that moth-eaten old rabbit skin around....
