We are all part of a barrel of laughs ....able to take life's mud and via collective "hands" make it into a lovely mud hut! Pray for no rain!

Speaking of mud. We used to make mud pennies on the sidewalk to see if anyone would pick them up....

Nope, not a one! And we would hide under the porch and look thru the foundation stones to see if they did too.

Memorial Day
July 4th

We have had a gas grill for quite a while -- this may he our third ...
but I remember setting up the lightweight round grill when we were newlyweds..big bag of charcoal briquettes...can of lighter fluid .wow... How healthy was that? And always burnt chicken...basted with a brush!

Later on the kids would roast marshmallows on a stick..from a real tree...not a marshmallow iron as they use now. Them were the days!

We ate a lot of charred Bar-be-cue sauce back then....

Yeah..you would think we did not know that sugar burns...after watching those marshmallows go black!

Yup. Burst into flames and then gobble up sweet charcoal.... and smile with black tongues.

I love charcoal marshmallows and my mom would make the chicken on the charcoal bbq
while we were in the pool with our duck "Junior" and when it was nice and burnt she would let us eat it in the pool

We had our share of s'mores also. A lot of sore tongues trying to eat them before the chocolate dripped on clothes. The next morning the birds would be feasting on dropped graham cracker pieces.

Those marshmallows were so so.good warm and melty and even the gritty burnt stuff was good.

I was trying to remember how to do the string games today....but I couldn't ...rock the baby etc. Trying to show Sophia. I also TRIED to show her Chinese jumprope.....eeech....I was all ready but the body would not lift off the floor!!! What gives???? I am not that heavy. I used to be able to sail upwards....LIKE A GAZELLE!!!! I kept looking at my feet but the damn things forgot how to lift themselves.

Ahhh perhaps they were "rooted in history"

Those feet were rooted in quicksand..stuck like a magnet to the fridge....
I was the most surprised of all....moral of the story...jump rope at least monthly....maybe the ability will remain for life.
