Weedwhacker said:I like the alcohol idea, Ann -- does that help keep the freezer from frosting up?

No, it just keeps the rag from sticking while you clean it.

I don't like that idea of oil either. Then everything in there will get oil on it. Nah, I'll pass.
I have a chest freezer too.
The alcohol does help to melt the ice -- you can make the mixture as strong as you want.

I agree with Sandy Lyn about what you read online. They can make the simplest things unbelievably complicated.

Sandy ....

I have an upright freezer. The coils are in the shelves, which is what makes it easy to have them repaired, if there is a problem.

I don't have a lot in my freezer right now, but wanted to get it done before I went down to the valley for a meat run. There's a butcher shop that always has a great sale in January and has good meat, so I generally re-stock my meat in January.

I also need to do a dump run so I can get rid of the stuff that has been hanging around too long. I don't dare put that stuff in the trash. That would be a critter buffet ... Hilarious!

Some of those housekeeping tip sites do have some good tips. If there is a way to make a task difficult, I always seem to find that way first ... Sighing! , so those sites often keep me from working too hard.

So they're the actual coils that do the cooling, then... does your frozen food get stuck to them? Or, does the user guide have anything to say about that?

Picture a wire type of shelf. The freezer coils are in those wires. That's where all of the frost has built up. So far, nothing has gotten stuck to them.

I guess I'd try giving one of them a light coating of oil and see what happens...

The neighbors are blasting the stereo. We turn the house fan on and then can't hear it, but still it irritates me that I can hear it inside my house. (Yes, I've already tried talking to them about it.)

Weedwhacker said:Susan, so sad.. and so true.

I feel that a huge issue that I have never seen addressed anywhere is that of so many doctors with heavy foreign accents, which many people -- and in particular the elderly -- have difficulty understanding. And again, the elderly in particular do not want to appear "stupid," so they don't speak up and ask questions, but just nod their head and walk away, basically not having a clue about what they are being treated for or with, or what they should expect to happen. Sad

And even with doctors who speak English as their first language, there is way too often a huge disconnect between what the doctor says and what the patient hears. I'm not sure where one would even begin to address this problem...

Sandy this is a pet peeve of mine. Many of the doctors here seem to be from India. Ours is incredibly hard to understand. I am told he is a good Doctor and he certainly did pull me thru a tough time a few years ago, but it is tiring to have to ask him to repeat things. I also feel that sometimes Doctors from other cultures do not understand how Americans think on issues. I ask lots of questions, I kind of doubt that happens where he came from. Whistling Yes, I can be a pain. Hilarious!

My Dr is of Indian descent, but..... he was trained in the UK and has an impeccable grasp of the English language, so I understand everything he says.
I have an appointment with him tomorrow, and I am so happy that he never keeps his patients waiting - 5 minutes is max.
I just hope that he has the results from the MRI. I'll call in the morning and if he doesn't then I'll reschedule for Tuesday (latest that he should have the results).

Grumbling Grumbling I was right ... Grumbling Grumbling I took more time procrastinating about cleaning the freezer than it took to clean the freezer ... Grumbling Grumbling I wish I'd get over that kind of thing.

You can look at it this way Lyn..... now you know about the freezer cleaning. Next time you won't procrastinate.

That's possible, Ann ... Big Grin

When I got done, I just had to laugh at myself. Good grief, if I add the time I spent procrastinating to the time it took to get the job done, it took me three times the amount of time I should have spent on that project Crying

You are right, now that I've done it, I won't make such a big deal out of it ... *Blush*

One day at a time Lyn. Just think how much time you'll have next time you go to do it. You'll plan 10 other things you can also do that day in addition to the freezer.
