I doubt if I'd ever make dinner for lunch. It takes too much of my gardening time.

Good point, Arlene. That's an issue in the summer for me. This time of year, though, if I'm home, I'm inside. I don't have the gardening excuse here, but boy do I wish I did. Looking at pictures of daylilies and going through seeds is really giving me the itch for gardening season.

Many of us seem to cook more in winter than in the heat of summer. That's the time for a nice cold salad with shrimp, chicken, etc. In summer I really enjoy working outside, after dinner, until darkness drives me back inside. I just spotted my husband's halogen light so now I can use that for my night gardening.

Even looking at my photo program gets me a bit nutsy for the garden, just not nutsy enough to face the 30 degrees we have now.

Took advantage of the nice day yesterday to get one good last cleanup in the yard...very cold and windy today but nice to look out the window and see a clean patio even if it's empty of potted plants Thumbs down

Tonight is the girls favorite after two weeks of easy dinners due to all the holiday prep...roasted chicken, mashed taters, corn and gravy...they will be happy after the first day back to school.

Cooking the turkey breast too for the tetrazzini tomorrow or Thursday.

I'm going to have poor man's lobster for dinner.

I'm exhausted. Went to the gym this morning, then ran lots of errands this afternoon, ending with grocery shopping. I bought an already-made Laura's Lean meatloaf. We'll have that with baked sweet potatoes and pickled beets. I'll have cooked frozen spinach too, but my husband won't touch spinach.

Laura's Lean cooked meatloaf is a lifesaver on these too-tired-to-cook days.

That's a simple little reminder to me that I can pre-make some meatloaf and freeze it.

I had Ruben sandwich; celery. Having some rosemary Triscuits for munching.

Margaret, DH came into the kitchen and said 'can we eat early? that smells really good'. I told him he'd have to wait until 5. He usually has another bit of something later in the evening, but I don't, so if we eat too early then I am starving by morning.

Two back-to-back evening meetings today. Thank God, the diner is just across the street. It was a takeout hamburger deluxe with fries for me. Hardly a wonderful meal, but still grateful to get one in. Turns out, I was home before 8 so I could have waited, but the in-between time proved long enough for such fine dining.
