When I was in college a bunch of us went to watch the Rose Parade. We went around 7 pm and claimed our stake on the sidewalk. We planned to stay up all night. We , ate, danced listened to music, and rooted on the cruisers. Sometime in the night we fell asleep on the sidewalk, only to wake up to people standing in front of us 5 feet deep! Still had fun though.

Again, you will all get tired of me mentioning older movies that I enjoy. Here's one like no other. The Time of Your Life, 1948, IMDB 6.5. James Cagney, William Bendix, Broderick Crawford. "I like champagne and everything that goes with it. Big houses with big porches. Big rooms with big windows. Big trees and big Shepard dogs sleeping in the shade. I'd walk out of the house and I'd look at the trees and smell the flowers and I'd run across the lawn and lie down under a tree and read a book. A book of poems perhaps...." Please watch it and enjoy. Gene

Never tire of old movies. I record and watch them often. Just watched the "Man who new too much" with Jimmy Stewart and Doris Day yesterday.

Same here James, I watched Midnight Lace the other day. We have Turner Classic Movie channel and I go through the week and record them. Nice for a cold long winter day.

I had to go to Wiki and ask. I thought it was more. Number of movies shot in Monument Valley? And they weren't all westerns. No cheating now. Gene

LOL, when the, (please bow and salute) Zenish 32 inch tube TV reached a point where it needed a new main tube, we found out the last true TV repairman has quit, not gone out of business, but quit as his shop was so full the days were not long enough and he had a LOT of kids. Wife said stop.
Anyway, I made sure the new flat-screen thing had the capability to connect to a computer and be used as a computer screen.
Well that was about a year ago, and I finally got the cable for the hook-up but still have not used it.
It is a nice long one so I can be on the laptop and still sit eight feet from the TV.
May have to try it some day. (Oh yes, I found a TV repairman down by the old home and the TV is now there and will get new tube probably before I hook this sucker to the flat screen.) I tip my hat to you.

RpR, you don't have 'casting', 'screensharing', mirroring, or something similar that you can do it wirelessly? What kind of laptop do you have?

Technically yes I can do it wirelessly.
When we first turned the TV on it read the WiFi so first thing I had to learn to do was to get it off of the WiFi.

One thing that turned me off on this setup and I did not find out till a few weeks ago the old tube TV-VCR-cable box setup of going to the VCR first does not work with these new digital flat screens and digital cable.
I had thought the VCR was shot, took it down to the shop where we bought the TV and he said that sadly too many people learn the hard way as no one alerts tube TV owners to this fact.
So now the VCR is hooked up with a digital cable to the TV also.
I have ProBook HP which is nice, it replaced a Samsung 17 inch and as much as I dislike that Samsung, we still have it, I miss the larger keyboard as I have fat fingers and all the typos you see in my post show that.

I'm afraid you lost me on this one. I guess I am young enough that I never knew the "old" way. By the time I was old enough to have my own home setup, we had DVD's and Blu-ray. I have hooked up a VCR to my TV, but I guess I just did what I had to do and never realized that there used to be an easier way Shrug!

RpR said:I have ProBook HP

The ProBook's are nice. That's what my sister has and she has only good things to say about it. I have the Samsung Notebook 9 and I haven't had any problems with it yet. It is still new though. Only time will tell. Samsung does have an issue with going downhill fast with some of their devices.

Gene,
It's interesting to read everyone's favorites. I do like old Bette Davis movies. I like Arsenic and Old Lace. AND Murder, He Says with Fred MacMurray, but I'm not really into the old ones. Unless there's a werewolf in it. I love werewolf movies.

''Watching the movie: Wizard of Oz while listening to Dark Side of the Moon.''
I have done that and it is the most amazing experience!
