He must still be up and running if he can push off. Do you think that he will allow you to help if he gets worse?

He's near starvation, animals will fight until it's too late, so not likely he will change behavior unless he's too far gone.

@keithp2012 Hope somehow you can get your cat to the vet. It is frustrating that he doesn't realize you are only trying to help him.

How is the cat doing, Keith? Have you managed to get it to the vet? We had a feral who needed to go to the vet. We had to have big fleecy throws with us. We'd wrap it around the cat quickly, so we didn't get clawed to death. Have someone help you catch him and corral him. I hope it's not too late.

Might need a cat whisperer to get that cat! We had a Saint Bernard come in our yard a couple of days ago. It was drinking water from the sprinkler. Scared the heck out of some of the cats. It was a little bit scared of me, even though I talked to it nicely. Sure was a good looking dog, not quite fully grown judging by its size. I was worried because I'd never seen this dog before...was hoping it wasn't abandoned or something. I haven't seen it since, so it probably went home...it was wearing a collar and tag.

My mother passed away after a short but tough battle with cancer. She died peacefully in her sleep. It's weird that I am both sad and relieved. Sad that she is gone, of course. But so relieved that she is no longer suffering.

Cheryl, my deepest condolences.

Glad for you that your mom passed peacefully.
Sad for you that you won't have her here with you strong and happy ...the earth shifts a bit when a parent or sibling passes. Memories have to suffice for a while..it is very hard.

I know what you mean about your mom being your Dad's world. It's awfully hard when the person you've been caring for is no longer there. Does he have activities he could pick up and do, that would take him out of the house - friends his age that have activities he would like to join them in?
I hope things are as well as they can be, for him. Group hug for your Dad as well. Lovey dubby

My sympathy to you, Cheryl. My MIL passed away in her sleep earlier this year and I was so grateful we were able to avoid the hospital situation, having to sit around to decide to turn off machines etc. It is so much more natural and peaceful this way. But you are right to worry about your dad. I hope he will manage to find some peace in time. Group hug

I have worked with many couples over the years..the one with the chronic illness and the caregiver. It is definitely a process they have to go through..taking back their lives ..filling up the day. You have to let him go at his own speed. It is hard to see those we love struggle with their lives and finding the niche. It is good he knows there are folks who are ready willing and able to help if he asks for it.
