MISSINGROSIE said:If work does not...do not hesitate one second to go to the hospital billing / SS department and get that paperwork started on his behalf. Do not assume that he makes too much...has too much...owns too much... Hospitals receive breaks from the govt and they must take on some cases for just what the insurance pays...OR if he is eligible for medicaid ( remember he is not working ) then they help get that started because in every case where the patients insurance does not pay all the bill ...the remainder can be evaluated to be written off....they will NEVER approach the family nor offer...the family or patient must do it. First, the patient must be proven "not eligible" for Medicaid. So either way...good info about help and what to do is collected and provided for you. Also, when evaluated for write off or even discounted services INCOME is looked at..not assets ..income...and he is not working technically. So house, car, that is not looked at.

So again, never assume that you or anybody you are helping is not eligible for patient assistance.

@gingin

You can copy and paste to your word processing program, if you have one and print from there.

My way (which may not be the best way) is to highlight it ...copy.....and paste in in a note or an email and print that

I use a tiny program called Lightshot and highlight whatever I want to print/save/copy etc, and just choose Print from it. It's an awesome program and really small & easy to use.

Alex did get out of the hosp on Thursday. He's doing OK considering. Had a bit of a stutter in the hosp, but it seems to be gone now...at least as far as I know. No sense of smell for now and he gets frustrated because of a loss of concentration or whatever it should be called...had car keys in his hand and couldn't remember what he should do with them...getting thoughts together with words is also hard at times. All normal for now in the process of healing, but he gets frustrated with himself. Wants everything back to the way it was, but he wants it YESTERDAY. Time to just give the healing a chance...after all it's only been a week.

Ginger ... that is common with head injuries. Have they recommended therapy to teach him what to expect and what he can do to help himself through the recovery process ?

Some of that sounds familiar, gingin. My DH's recovery from his septic-shock, circling-the-drain episode in MICU years ago, it took a long time for his brain to recover. When they finally took him off most of the machines, he only remembered nightmares from the time before that in MICU. He was wary of the staff there, thinking they meant him harm in some way, wanting to go home immediately. Little appetite. He had short-term memory loss and some other impairments of the mind. He had to re-learn some things, including walking, didn't truly understand some things that was said to him at that time. It was hard...and scary! Hoping your son recovers completely...it takes time, I've seen amazing recoveries while hanging around hospitals and such.
I would feel more optimistic about a bright future for man if he spent less time proving that he can outwit Nature and more time tasting her sweetness and respecting her seniority. E. B.White

Thanks all ya'll....things have been crazy. I *think* his "bed warmer" is more toxic then supportive, but there is nothing I can do about it and neither can his boys. I can only be here for them, Alex and sons, but NOT her...there is other stuff going on as well. I know I need to do for me, but this is night 3 without dinner...just can't bring myself to eat. This too shall pass one way or another. On hopefully an up side, I traded my Poppy in yesterday for a 2009 chevy malibu. BIG change for me, but at least now when I go to the PO I feel like I'll get home and with things the way they are with Alex that's important. Silver lining.....dogs can get breezes from the moon roof as well as the windows Hilarious! Shrug!

Congrats on the new car!!!! Got a name?

Don't worry about the gal pal. My experience is that by ignoring living poison it diminishes the toxic effect... All toxins need to be actively under the skin to be successful..if you ignore it takes away the potency.
