Welcome! to Garden.org Gypsi & congratulations on your successes. Where are you located? Most of us have to short of a growing season to benefit from taking tomato cuttings so late, you must be in a very warm climate.

Fort Worth Texas. And I have a green house, really small, on the south side of my garage and keep bees and have a fair number of bumbles around, not sure how to get them IN the greenhouse but I have feathers for pollination. First frost is rarely before November. I also started some tomato seeds, Early Girl 72 days, they are about 4 inches tall so maybe they will fruit for me.

Welcome! Gypsi and congrats on your propagation efforts! Keep us posted.

Baja, thanks for sharing your technique with us. I have an echeveria that I'd like to try that on. It is currently flowering, is it too late to do this with it? Shrug!

If the flowers are not on their way out then you should try. Nothing much to lose really. I think once the inflorescence is going to seed, the leaves don't work as well for propagation. Here are my plants a few weeks out. Slow going but great progress.

The soil is 50% pumice, 25% coir, 25% potting soil. There is a layer of chunky pumice on top to keep the leaves from drifting around.

Thanks. I think I'll try that potting mix recipe, only I have to use crushed granite instead of pumice. Thumbs up

someday I will try succulents again. Today I started my tomato cuttings for fall tomatoes.

Thumb of 2016-08-09/Gypsi/4fae7a

I started seed for early girls a couple of weeks ago. Either way I should get some fall tomatoes, the seedlings are doing well. There are fish below those tomato cuttings in pots. I started cuttings of 2 amish gold, one cherokee purple (that I got no spring fruit from) and a Burgess better boy that was already trying to throw some blooms.

Great job Missy is it a plain bleeding heart or something unique like a variegated or golden foliage type?

It's a dark green leafed bleeding heart vine. Love the flowers but is not hardy in zone 8. Need a clipping?

Thanks for the info and for the offer Missy but I'm recovering from an injury at the moment so I'm limited on what I can do in the garden right now. Any other propagating plans before the growing season is over?

I found a tiny pad of this Opuntia near the beach last summer, in the gravel on the side of the road, like it had fallen from the sky, with no roots. It seems happy in mini garden for now.

Everything in this pot was stuck in as a cutting w/o roots. 2 kinds of Plectranthus, Coleus, Tradescantia zebrina, Tripogandra serrulata, Euphorbia tithymaloides, ornamental purslane (Portulaca umbraticola,) Tahitian bridal veil (Gibasis geniculata,)

These plants were all cuttings a few months ago, Hoya 'Chelsea,' Begonia 'Castaway,' dwarf umbrella tree (Schefflera arboricola,) calico plant (Alternanthera ficoidea.)

Tiffany your Opuntia looks very nice but those thorns look painful. I was given some pads of 3 different thornless Opuntia but sadly they didn't make it Crying I think my potting mix retained too much water. The hanging baskets came along very nicely, I love your choice of colors.

Sorry to hear about your injury. Hope you make a speedy recovery. I plan to continue rooting thru winter. It becomes such an obsession.
