This pic represents 2 kinds of success. A cut leaf of 'Whitney' cultivar of snake plant (Sansevieria) has produced 2 pups. The other kind of success is demonstrating the CW that says that the unique pattern of variegation matching the cultivar name can't be reproduced this way.
My newest hanging pot, put together from cuttings about a month ago. Coleus, Begonia, Swedish ivy and Cuban oregano (Plectranthus verticillata and amboinicus,) WJ (Tradescantia zebrina,) purple scimitars (Tripogandra serrulata,) ornamental purslane (Portulaca umbraticola - the blooming plant.)

TY, Daniel and Missy! I have fun "messing with" plants, which meshes well with trying to hide the fugly plastic pots!

I hear that often! LOL! That's the name of the town I live in, and I try to put as much purple in it as possible. ;)

I put up some of these pictures in the cactus forum, but maybe this is a better place for the whole story. Mostly by way of illustration. Echeveria subrigida from leaves off the inflorescence. The key is to get the whole leaf with the base completely intact, which means cutting carefully around the margin to be sure.
The mother plant & the flower stalk after leaf removal.
Leaves sitting in the shade for a couple of days and then placed on top of soil. They will root and then little plantlets sprout from the base.
A week later I come back for more and the flowers are starting to open. I plan to do this 2 more times for a total of 12 leaves, of which I am hoping 8 plants will grow. We'll see.... each time I wait until 2-3 days after I water to get the plumpest leaf possible.
Finally the offspring from last year's propagation, recently graduated to a 10 inch pot.

Excellent post! Is there a reason you're only using leaves from the inflo?
What a kind offer, Daniel, TY!

Thank you. I'd prefer to keep the mother plant alive after the propagation. This is the least intrusive way available to make more plants. It does not even interfere with flowering.

TY! I may not have phrased my question well. Is this not a type of Ech one can propagate by removing a leaf from the bottom of the rosette? I'm rarely interested in beheading a mama plant for propagation either but the removal of a bottom leaf is rarely noticeable.

drdawg said:Please re-phrase that again for me, Brenden. I am old and not all that sharp, though age is not necessarily the reason for that. I was never all that sharp.
Thanks, Daniel and all who gave me thumbs.
Now I wish I had started 6 or 8. I'm going to try a few more. I'd really like this shrub in different parts of the landscape. The leaves show up in the shade.
I can't quite figure out how to post to this thread without quoting someone. But my success are: long ago my neighbor's vintage Queen Elizabeth rose, still have some here, her husband dug hers up in favor of a garden 3 weeks after I took the cuttings. Abelia, the occasional chrysanthemum, butterfly bush, etc. Then I put up a greenhouse and put a 100 gallon stock tank with a planting tray for filter. Now flame vine roots, as do almost anything that tolerates and likes a lot of moisture. Going to take tomato cuttings for late fall harvest and start them today.
