Are you sure yours is "High Noon"? It looks more like Japanese varieties to me, the leaves don't look like "High Noon" to me.

I think Littlebin is right. Your yellow tree peony leaves look different from mine. Your blooms also look fuller. I wonder if yours is Kinshi?

Thanks, Karen, the leaves looks like Oukan or maybe Kinshi, anyway, Japanese variety.

That could be it! First cut peony of the season. Got a lot of attention at the market.

Could be Nosegay as well, it's a really early one. Saw a pic tagged as Firelight that looked very similar, though.

What is the difference in the leaves? When I google it, nothing comes up. I know they have a specific color after blooming and into fall. I was simply referring to the strong lemon scent. Do Oukan or Kinshi have a lemon scent? It clearly isn't Kinshi.

Many lutea hybrid tree peonies has lemon scent.
"High Noon " is the first generation of paeonia delavayi lutea,
their leaves are more longer, narrower, rougher. "Oukan" is the second generation of lutea hybrid, the leaves are shorter, don't have so many sawtooth. Your tree peony leaves looker more similar to the second one. Below is the photo of "High Noon", you can see the leaves are different from yours tree peony.

The leaves on your yellow TP appear more rounded than the pointed angular ones on High Noon. Here is a link to a pic of High Noon from Cricket Hill Peony:

You can see that the foliage of your yellow TP differs from foliage the High Noon depicted at the above link. Please don't be offended. We thought that you would be interested to find out the true identity of your tree peony.

If its TP "Oukan" , that's good news then. It's rare to find and more expensive to buy.

I agree that yours closely match to Oukan. Your flowers look actually bigger and fuller than my High Noon tree peony. According to another website, Oukan blooms a week earlier than High Noon.

Tracey, those are so pretty! If they are Firelight as Liz said, wow I can't wait for mine to bloom. I got mine from the Bannister Peonies sale last year.

The leaves of your yellow peony are closer to "High Noon" to me, they are longer, narrower, not as shorter and wider as Oukan to me.

Below is the side by side comparison of the foliage between "High Noon" and "Oukan"
You can see the differences easily. "High Noon" is the parent of "Oukan".
Sorry I don't intend to offend anyone.

I doubt you offended anyone. Your side by side pictures are really helpful. Course, I don't 'have a dog in this fight' as I only have one tree peony now and it is far from blooming. I would settle for growing and healthy right now. Rolling on the floor laughing The yellows are all lovely so I would be thrilled to have any of them.
