Yes, those are there, but no mention of wintersowing specifically. WSing doesn't work well for everything. Some things, like tropicals, sprout too late. Some seeds rot in cold wet soil, etc. Wintersowing is often considered a pretty oddball method by those who grow under lights, but I have great results so I use that method most.

My hand is numb. Angry

I've been adding to the database like crazy all day. A new plant added here, a comment there, a factoid somewhere else. And a bajillion pictures, mostly coleus.

My carpal tunnel is rebelling. Time for a shower I guess.

How can I move a picture I used in a forum over to the plant data base. Somehow these pictures got deleted from my computer.

It's under "Propagation: Seeds". We chose to label it as "Suitable for sowing in fall for spring germination"

For wintersowing you mean? You don't wintersow much in fall, except rare seeds that need warm-cold-warm periods. Wintersowing starts after winter solstice. Come on Dave, you need to brush up on your wintersowing practices!

That checkbox value was vetted through my beta and planning committee but some things are never perfect until exposed to the public eye.

I guess we can just call it "Suitable for wintersowing" - how's that?

OK, but then what about sowing before winter solstice? Some seeds can be planted in the fall...

Wintersowing junkies loosely refer to the method of sowing seeds, outside, in a container with a clear, vented lid as wintersowing at any time of year, even though Trudi defines it as starting at winter solstice. I even use the method for perennials in the peak of summer. It's way different from direct sowing, or sowing in an uncovered flower pot, or sowing under lights...

I guess it's not that big a deal if others don't agree. I suppose I could just add it as a comment in the comment area. But I think it would be a good addition Angel

I noticed that some plants are going into the data base twice because different common names are being used. Foe example Coneflower and Eastern Coneflower.

Dave,
►How about adding an option to find only entries WITH pictures?

►How about adding an option to find only pictures in a certain growing ZONE?

Check box options, perhaps???

P.S. I support what Karen is saying about the specifics of the winter sowing option.

Thanks! I tip my hat to you.

Lynda,

We do now have an option in the database for "suitable for wintersowing", so get busy and add. The squeaky wheel (me) got greased. *Blush*

Dave might be a dictator but he's a benevolent one! Thanks, Dave. I've been adding that to the database entries, but only if I know that that plant wintersows well. I suspect that a whole lot of other seeds qualify , but I'm not entering it unless I know.
