Neil, those pix are so great. It was also great Skyping with you this afternoon. Phoenix looked great and very well fed! Archie would have been there but he was taking a nap with his Daddy.

Take care,

Dear Magga, I was quite pleased with the photos as it was bitterly cold outside and the new lens did well this time. After going through all the settings I found the culprit and with just one click of the button the difference is amazing.
It is an extremely complicated lens and took some time to work it out, so I was glad that the picture of the water droplets dropping of the Acer came out well. It has warmed up here 3C or 36F which is better than the well below freezing we were having. In Oxford it was -16C the other night. That is cold to wake up to and not nice at all. I know that is nothing to what you get in your beautiful Country but it gave the people up there a shock.
Give that beautiful animal of yours a good walk and a hug.
Keep warm and safe.
Group hug

Completely wrong Neil. Here in Reykjavík it hardly ever goes that far below 0°C. Average temps here in January and February are 0 to -2. I dont remember it getting below -13°C here and that low temperatures are far below the average. A branch of The Golf Stream runs around Iceland, so our winters are not so cold at all, although it usually is colder on the north and north/east coast, and also in the highlands. Now it is +6°C here.

I´m so happy for you and glad you found out what it was with your lens. I also hope that you are getting better. I feel spring in the air (just a wish) Group hug Big Grin Green Grin! Big Grin

Dear magga, sorry for getting your climate wrong! I have been to the Shetlands, Orkney, the Faroes and Norway in the winter and they were cold. Norway being the coldest by far when I was there. I have always wanted to come to Iceland ever since I was at school but have never managed it yet! It always looks so spectacular and in some bits like Scotland and the Yorkshire moors. One day I will get there.
Regards and Hugs.

Dear all, I managed to get out today and was in for a lovely surprise in the low sunshine and cold. The pictures were difficult to take in that light but I hope you enjoy them!
Iris reticulata the normal species one and a purple cultivar.

All these beautiful plants are flowering alongside snowdrops and crocus which is strange.

Dear all. I took this amazing carpet of crocus with my wide angle lens so they need to be enlarged to see them properly! I love naturalized bulbs in the grass it is so beautiful. There are a lot more crocus to come up in this spot as well.

Our crocus up next to the house were discovered (still as leaves) under last fall's leaves. Going be over 50 today so they will be all right, but who knows how it will be during march. Further afield, the ground is still frozen in the iris beds.

Unfortunately it is far too windy to do any photography! When everything looked nice for a good spring the wind has changed to northerly and is cold and bitter. No Daffodils as of yet but the Iris reticulata are out and in some places tulips! The plants are at a loss for the moment they grow and get a day of sun it goes cold again. We did get some rain yesterday but not much and everything is very dry indeed.
The wind has damaged many places but only branches and nothing serious, unlike your Tornado's.
I hope you are all well?
Regards.
Neil.
