Jread, if keeping your plants indoors, just do not water them unless you see leaves on the outside of the rosette drying up, then only a sip. They can go a long time without water. No water and they won't try to grow too much and get leggy. Also, you are in zone 5, so they should be OK outdoors - just cover with snow. I wouldn't put them out now, however, due to the sudden temp change that would result, but you could stage them to an unheated garage for a week, then put them out.

I am going to order today. Not sure how this will sale will work. I'm order two of each so the 2nd plant should be free, right? Paying thru paypal so not sure how to do the checkout.

Are these winter hardy for zone 5b?

They are hardy in your zone Rose hardy down to zone 4. You live in both Chicago area and KY? They do well in both parts of the country. : )

No, you order one plant and you get two automatically. I think if you order enough she also adds a surprise plant. : ) So if you order 1 Pixie, you will get 2 plants.

We look forward to seeing what you get. Hope you have time to share your photos with us. Thumbs up

Thank you Twitcher. I'll hold off on watering them unless it's necessary. Really appreciate the advice!

Glad to help.

BTW the "technical" term fro what your plants are doing is etoliation/ being etoliated. Slow down growth and you limit the problem.

Here's a brief explanation.

That really helps me understand why some plants don't do well for me indoors during the winter. The tender succulents I brought indoors last fall are doing well because I used the information you gave me last fall about watering sparingly. It worked. : )
Thanks twit.

Graptopetalum paraguayense? Those are very susceptible to over-watering in the the winter. I also have graptoverias and they are the same way. They can rebound though. Rolling my eyes.
I garden for the pollinators.

Just put in my order It was hard but I limited myself to a dozen. Started out with a list of 60 and whittled it down. Maybe another order from somewhere else later.

What a beautiful list Holly. Can't wait to see photos of them when you get them.
List of 60? Blinking My list of 17 took me two days to plant. Rolling on the floor laughing Could be because I was so busy looking at each and every one, touching them, commenting on each individual plant. Thinking about where their permanent home would be, and talking all of this over with them. Just me and the plants. Lovey dubby It was such great fun. Now don't forget Holly that I will have a number of different varieties to trade this spring. Can I send you my list before you order any more.

The sun is out today (cold & breezy), so going out to work in the yard, making more sedum starts, inventory, and whatever else can be done. When I get it all together I will send a list to you Holly.

Lynn, i just recieved my order from north hills, oh my I am just thrilled. we are in the middle of an ice storm and i put them in my garage for planting later today. I will put them out in my rock garden when the weather allows. I was wondering if i should add a small amount of water when i pot them. maybe a tablespoon, they are going to go in about a 4" pot with grit.
as soon as the weather is better i will send some pics
again thank you for posting nhn web site.
