Hi I watch the leave segments for drying. The veins in the segments give nutrition two and the bud. Your segment looks healthy and beautiful. If you see changes just water and fertilize. Please keep us posted on the bloom. I am interested in the color. I l trade for colors I don't have the segment.

Hi alisa, thanks for the info. It does seem healthy and I like how you can see the veins when the sun is out! I will keep you all posted! This is the blooms from last year.

I brought my plants inside last Monday and didn't notice any buds but obviously they were there!! This is a routine now, bring plants back inside in early October and this one takes off blooming! Hurray! This is a 32inch pot that I plant many different schlumbergera in, I love the result, they are mixed colors, and develop at different speeds giving surprises all year long! I tip my hat to you.

Looks so pretty Sy! I have seen that before, especially on new ish plants. I think nurseries spray bloom hormones on them so they go extra wild!
Love the looks of your plant! Mine are budding up nicely too, but yours seems a few days ahead! Thumbs up
Happy Blooms I tip my hat to you.

That's good greg I hadn't seen it happen before, mine is a few days ahead but I've noticed how quickly your buds have formed and I suspect yours will open first :)
I was watering my chillies and added some sulphate of potassium, i had a little left over and I dunno why but i gave it to the tc, hope it doesn't react negatively?! I know its very good for fruit and flower but not so sure if the tc would agree, will see how it goes.

I was gifted this by a friend earlier this year. I'm not sure what color flowers it will have or if it'll bloom for me this year (::Crosses fingers::). She is a bit pale in color, but she looked that way when I received her. I think my friend put her outside in full sun. She's been summering at my folks' and came back home with me today for the winter. I know the potting mix looks like crap, but I figured she seems fine and I'm pretty sure she was grown from a cutting in it so "don't fix what ain't broke." Hilarious!

Looks good Georgia!! Agree don't worry about potting mix, for me personally I've found these plants to be very forgiving, the only 2 things that they don't like are getting too cold or too dry. I try to water by schedule, so every Weds, but today is Saturday and I haven't watered this week yet - Rolling on the floor laughing so I'm talking DRY! Because even with my erratic watering schedule they are doing ok! The only time I've had these die on me is if I leave them outdoors too late into the autumn, or leave them go too long without water
I find they stay greener in lower light conditions, mine always turn reddish, or pinkish when I have them in more sun.
I tip my hat to you.

I have some cactus buds growing in between the segments.I think because the segment are dry out in the vein and not growing right. I pruned the segment so the buds grows strong flowers. It's nature way of getting reed of bad segments. Confused

Very nice alisa! I seen an easter one earlier this year with deep red/purple blooms on it! Unfortunately I was walking and couldn't carry anything else! It was gone when I went back! The holiday cacti seem to be very popular here compared to other succulents on display so I need to be on the ball next time.
