I ignored my plants during the worst of my husbands recovery from a stroke. I looked at then this last week. I have been forgetting to water. They look ok but no new growth, Well one of the smallest starts (3sections) have a tiny bloom. I guess I have decided to put them in the same pots by leaf type as stated above. I lost the labels.
I am still looking for the orange easter daisy type, Anybody have some cuttings for sale?

I have a holiday cactus that has grown but not in 5 months. I have a pic when I brought it in a week ago. I have been misting, thinking maybe it did not get enough moisture on the plant. It has been in the shade (bright light). The fronds are thin and it did not blloom at at Christmas like its parent which lives elsewhere. Mine went out when it hit 60°. It's 90's° outside . 75° in house now. Had timed fert. Every three months How can I help it ?

Hi Crystalview, Christmas cactus are fine outside in the shade not in Direct sunlight. I think it could be soil conditions! Not repotting after a year, or over watering or root rot maybe a problems. This time of year new clades (Leaves) should be coming on plants. Christmas cactus prepare for flower buds in the fall. It's not to late to save plant. I like Black Gold Cactus mix and worm casting.
I add a New Schlumbergera cactus season forum 2018 -2020 to encourage new people to join. I hope this helps you,

We have been asked by the management not to put dates in our ongoing chat threads, so as to leave them open ended and continuous. So if it's okay with you guys, I'm going to change the title of the new thread to the following, and it will become the ongoing chat thread on this subject for the indefinite future. We can certainly name it something else if you like.

The thread "Schlumbergera/holiday cactus chat" in Cactus and Succulents forum

I'm looking forward to seeing more pictures of all your plants. Smiling

I am looking for cuttings to root. Orange daisy type and red Christmas. I have been told mine is an easter and they are harder to get to bloom. I checked the roots they have made a ball in the middle of this pot. So to large or not ?

Hi Rooted cuttings take less time to be established. Rooted cuttings have tender roots and have different soil requirements. The roots can get root rot faster from over watering. ( take cuttings cuttings out of water once you see roots)
Small branched planted depending on time of year! ( In summer) after flowering of mother plants to get cuttings! Good time. May take a couple of months to get roots. Requires just fresh cactus mix soil from the start.(some make own cactus soil mix) Both methods are okay too use. I like rooting cuttings. My opinion. I keep Rhipsalidopsis the same as Thanksgiving and Christmas cactus. Just growing time is in the late spring and temperatures changes for blooms are different. I read gardening books on Cactus growing like Christmas Cacti by A.J. S. Mc Millan and J.F. Horobin (book is out of print, still available online.)

Do you know how hard it is to buy cuttings online ! I was looking for lipstick Christmas.
Most sell 2 two section cuttings for two high, plus shipping. I don't mind paying but not for $33+S.
