Well you know who it went to, right? I suggest you become hard and fast friends with whoever received that rhizome. and maybe the person who donated it also!

I am VERY pleased at how this sale was handled! It is great to know from the start what your remaining choices are. I started out with 8 choices at about 8:45 and received 5 of them. I was surprised at how long it took my name to show up on the spread sheet, but good to be able to see what I was getting. And to have a chance to try again.
Please post about the grand Marais sale - you know the saying - once you have been bitten by the virus you can never have too many. (Although I have to add - I am so happy to have large beds of daylilies that pretty much grow themselves, especially with the torrents of rain we have had recently! I am afraid to go out and look at my irises!)

I don't know who donated anything and I only recognized three of the emails. So, no luck there.

I was referring to the spreadsheet that had everyone and their purchase noted on it. So you would go to the line that says "hopeless quest" or whatever the name, and follow it to the right until you find the column of the person who purchased it. You could maybe ask HIPS who originally donated it?

I'm not sure if it was mentioned, but, the "Grab Bag" iris are all marked as to "name", just like the others were.

My order was waiting for me when I got home yesterday, and they got planted, this morning . I will have to say they were all, "fresh enough" to go right into the beds....a HUGE improvement over previous years! With a minimum of 'tweaking", this new sale format is surely the way to go Thumbs up

Out of respect for the privacy of the donors to the HIPS sale, I will not ask for the donor's information.
1. Many donors have chosen to remain anonymous and would stop donating at all if they thought people could track them down at will.
2. That information would not be provided anyway. HIPS uses a numbering system to keep track of the rhizomes and their donors so if something is reported to have bloomed incorrectly the donor can be notified through HIPS. They would never give out personal information or put you in direct contact with a donor, nor would I expect them to.

The iris will show up again some day, I am an optimist. Crossing Fingers!

An extension of sorts to the HIPS sale is the Pickle Barrel sale with lots of historics and some moderns. For ordering instructions and to view the list, still being updated, go to: http://www.grandmaraismichigan...
