I'm wondering if I'm looking at outdated lists? I don't see THAT many that are red...is everyone hoping for the same 10-15 varieties and that's why everyone is commenting that the CV's they want are sold out? Or is the list out of date? (I do realize that they are still going through emails to process orders and update the list, but I feel like that shouldn't be any more apparent to you guys than to me...you should see the same lines marked red that I do....so you guys, in theory should have the same knowledge of what's out as I do, right?....which doesn't appear to be a huge number....)

Edited to add: I didn't realize that they weren't updating the Round 1 file....I think I pulled that link from a previous posting figuring that it would be updated along with the other counts (especially since the tab title reads "Round 2" even though it's for Round 1). Still, it doesn't appear that many went OOS (out of stock) on Round 1, though a lot of people commented that they didn't get what they want, so my comment still stands in that regard. Now, though, I see all of the Round 2 options that are OOS....that's a lot! I'm going to check and see if any I'm interested in are left...

To see the updated file you must go onto the HIPS website and the instructions. The link sent in the confirmation email is "old" and unworking properly.

To shift left and right on the sheet there should be a small slider near the bottom of the sheet [got to thank Google for hiding it].

As to orders, there were apparently more orders received in the first five MINUTES of the sale [Round One] than were placed in all of the sale last year. So the order of receipt was surely determined by the internet and its issues.

I still see so many that I thought would be gone. Of course Mary Frances is still there, but so is Mrs. Neubronner!

Of my long list of 'wants' and 'possible wants'....there are about 40 still left. I have a feeling I'll get something I want. Rolling my eyes.

I'm not aware of any email links since I'm not a member, Confused but someone in this thread had posted (in response to another member) a link that they thought would possibly work to show the Google docs form of what was still available. It must have been a link to Round 1 sheet, even though the name of the page (as shown in the Google Tab) said "Round 2", even though it wasn't (whoops!). I went to the website and clicked on the Round 2 link there and there was, what appears to be, a much more accurate and updated list. Smiling

Yeah, the number of entries right at 8:00 in round 1 was mind blowing! I entered then and was about the 200th on the list! I didn't realize that round 2 would have more rhizomes on it, and I thought all the ones I'd wanted were sold out in round 1...not so! I entered round two at 7:59:59 (figuring it would take at least 1 second to get there) and ended up with all I wanted minus one! I'm going to look when it opens to the public and see if the one I didn't get is there. Maybe!

The HIPS sale was quite an adventure!

The "working" link at this point is:
https://docs.google.com/spread...

This has the latest updates and what is still available. I'd suspect that most varieties will stay about where they are until Jul 23 when the next onslaught of emails shows up.

All-in all, I think the new system works pretty well.....the only real "glitch" I see (outside of "slow fingers", on MY part !) is the spreadsheet....the "slider" at the bottom won't work (at least for me !) by using the directional arrows....you have to "click" on the "slider box', and drag it along.....and that's pretty "hurky jerky". That said......I find MOST "spread sheets" quite hard to navigate.....I guess I'm not "savvy" enough Shrug! .

I think it works pretty well, too, but I still find it hard to believe that over 200 orders came in within the first minute! The HIPS folks must be really, really happy about such a great sale!

Maybe I am as bad at math as I am with computers but it looks to me like there have only been 132 orders as of the end of the second round. With a membership of somewhere over 700 (I think, it has been a couple of years since I heard a number) I don't think that is really an outrageous number.

I would say of those 132 there were at least 35 that I KNOW that were prepared and pressing at 8 a.m. The other folks I have not dealt with but by the looks of things, I am going to! Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing

I have a suspicion quite a few were sent in as duplicates because of a slow return response! That surely messes up the counts, clogs up the system and slows everyone. For the first year of doing it this way with everyone learning the new method it seemed to work out well.

I'll be getting a snipe program for next year.
At least with the old mail in system, I was able to get *some* that I wanted... I didn't try at all last year because it was too early.. and I was pleased that they had two rounds this year.

Since there was only one that I got, and the minimum is 4... does that mean I don't get the one?

I suspect that would be the case, unless of course you check the remainder and see others. Maybe if that one is a "need to have" one you could offer extra postage to ship just the one? Another thing to add to the list of questions that need answers with the new process.

I "think" that you will get the one since you did order four but only one was available.

Last year with the other system, I ordered over 30 and got 1 so this actually worked out better for me. I am just a whinny child and cry because I didn't get what I wanted.

This system also takes the human factor out of the equation. No one has to wonder if there was a preference given to so and so because they were friends of so and so. The person doing the spread sheet is in one part of the country and the rhizomes are in another.

I know I sent my first one three times which proves you are correct Dave! I have no idea if it got there three times but I know I sent it that many. D'Oh!

You may be about right numbers wise, Lori. It went through the alphabet 3 times, so that's less than I was thinking. I submitted at 8 am, but I'm in the DG column. I figured lots more had to have submitted at 8:01 or beyond!

Yes, for a first shot at doing it this way, it did go well. I wonder if there's a way to send an automatic return when mail is received. I bet lots of people (like me) stressed out in fear of the mail not being received.

You should have gotten a message when your email was received. If it did not come in your regular email folder you might check your spam folder. It came from the same email address you sent the order to.
