Our store is usually loaded with flourescent Phals, these others seem to come in very short spurts.

Alice, both of your new orchids are Aliceara [Alcra.] so ignore the other outdated name. They are in the Oncidium alliance so grow them like the rest of your Oncidiums.

Oh boy! I didn't buy any orchids this year but my Mom just emailed me the FB advertisement of Motes orchids - 30% off on imports this weekend with the promo code WEEKEND through July 31. Not exactly sure what imports mean.

"Imports" is one of their catagories - listed across the top of their pages. Some real pretties there.

ctcarol said:Had a great time shopping with Ted today, until he got the same Den. I bought Fri. for $15 less than I paid. From now on, I think I'll peek under the table on the first day of the show to see how many they have of what I want, then go back the last day and get one at the discount. Picked up two 4" plants from Cal Orchids...not blooming yet.
L. purpurata 'El Supremo' X C. warneri (alba) 'Showoff' bud just breaking the sheath
Den Jonathan's Glory ' Dark Joy' in bud
Will post when in bloom.

Well a really busy week at the shop. Peeked in here a little, but now I am caught up with all the posts. Great posts by so many people.
Yes I had a great time at the show with Carol. And as she said bought a Den. Fire Wings from SVO that was discounted
And just like Carol I had a L. purpurata 'El Supremo' X C. warneri (alba) 'Showoff' jump into my hands from Call Orchid
Also a small Adenium obesum.

Well, it was a 3 for $15 (?) end of show markdown and they were trying to talk us into taking all three... but who needs more than one of the same? They are only 2" pots, so ... Hilarious!

Carol, I sort of wondered the same thing. My 17 adeniums just turned one year old, and now two of them have buds. I am hopeful.

The photos were taken four days ago. When I watered them yesterday I could see that the buds were pink, so I guess there will be pink flowers. I don't care what color they are. They will be eye-candy for me. Hurray!

The reason it's so hard to lose weight when you get up in age is because your body and your fat have become good friends.

Ken, I am so excited about your adenium babies, mine are just several months behind yours. I bought some of that fish fertilizer you recommended but now I am worrying about attracting raccoons. The reviews mentioned critters like to dig it up. Oh well, I have pesky critters anyway so it is worth a try. Your plants sure look good.

So far I have not had any critters bothering the 50+ potted plants that I used that fertilizer on. Crossing Fingers! I do water it in well after sprinkling it over the potting soil.

Thank you, Alice. I cannot believe how lush all my plumeria are this summer. Even with all the heat they look the best I have ever seen them. I have hardly a leaf with any rust whatsoever. Some of my varieties seem to have rust and some don't, but so far, all is good. Hurray!

I have had the empty jar of Fish Fertilizer sitting on my printer for a week. It is there to remind me to order more. Sooner or later I will get that done. The fertilizer is supposed to work for 2-3 months, so there's no rush. Of course, because dormancy is getting closer and closer, other than for those plumeria in bloom that will over-winter in the solarium, I won't fertilize again until early spring. I may fertilize some of my orchids with it, just to see what happens.

Good to know you have not has any critter problems. I don't trust any fertilizer to work for such extended periods in our heat. Also, you are watering your containers a lot more than the average gardener, that has to flush nutrients out.

Probably so, but it is organic rather than inorganic, such as all my water-soluble orchid fertilizers, so maybe that would play a part in its hanging around. Don't know and probably will never know. I don't even know that's a reason for the lush growth.

The flowers on the Aliceara Pacific Nova 'Okika' have started to open. I love the little clown faces. Hope I can keep these babies alive.
