I picked up 4 new orchids at the show yesterday...all from SVO, and that's all I could carry to the car. I may go back tomorrow to see if there are any deals. The only thing I hate about SVO plants is copying their tags!

The colors seem so clear on the Maxima (great Photo Carol,) that was my favorite but they are all lovely.

Carol, I may be going back tomorrow as well. As soon as I left yesterday, and all the way home some 26 miles of freeway, I heard some of those orchids weeping that they did not come home with me. And a few were even using some pretty foul language. Hilarious!
Let me know if and when you may go back and I'll do they same.aybe we can gang up on some poor unsuspecting vendor.
Here's what followed me home yesterday

Cal Orchids
Lc. Miss Wonderful ‘Imperialis AM/AOS In bud and one is opening today
Lycaste Abou Rits 4N x Lycaste Abou Rits 2N

Andy’s Orchids
Paphiopedilum wardii
Epigeneium acuminatum
Lycaste lasioglossa
Den. Kingianum Bare root ($5) couldn't resist. I have some other varieties and I'll see how this one likes the Kool Logs
Dendrobium loddigesii variegated
Dendrobium nobile var. cooksonianum

SVO
Fdk. Midnight Lace ‘SVO’ x Ctsm. Frilly Doris ‘SVO’ AM/AOS Not blooming size for maybe a year, but it sounds so neat. Here is what the web site says

"Here is a new style in Fredclarkeara breeding. The Midnight Lace is (Mo. Painted Desert x Ctsm. fimbriatum v. morrenianum) and blooms with dark purple-burgundy flowers and frilly lips that are almost like black lace. Frilly Doris (Doris's Choice x Dona Marie) imparts good flower form, well arranged flowers, vigorous growth, an ability to bloom 3-4 times a season, and, most importantly, the fimbriate lip. How about 15-20, large, long-lasting, dark purple-burgundy flowers with dark frilly lips, produced 2-3 times a season? "

Lc. Elegans f. coerulea (L. purpurata f. werkhauseri 'Kathleen' AM/AOS x C. leopoldii f. coerulea 'Kathleen' JC/AOS) In bud

I'll take picture when the buds open.

That Fdk sounds really interesting!
Yes, can't have those remaining Orchids use foul language now! Hilarious!

Sounds good, Ted! I really haven't got a schedule, and it only takes me about 15 min. to get there, so tell me what works for you. Hmm. about that Midnight lace...were there any more of them? ?? I hate to give all my money to one vendor, but the ones I got were in bloom, and I couldn't carry any more...too hot to make two trips to the car. Hilarious! You got me with that fimbriated lip...and it will be cooler tomorrow. I want to take a closer look at some of those Adeniums too. Oh yeah there were some nice Phaphs too. I might take one home to sacrifice, if the price was right.

That Midnight Lace was under the tablecloth. Again it is not blooming size. When we started taking he mentioned dark colors and away we went from there. Same here on the Adeniums. Maybe a new plant will get the one I got nervous and it will start to grow. I saw many nice looking Paphs. The ones I saw tho were very expensive. I have to be at my grandsons in the early afternoon and will be there for awhile. I will treemail. Maybe in the morning?

Had a great time shopping with Ted today, until he got the same Den. I bought Fri. for $15 less than I paid. From now on, I think I'll peek under the table on the first day of the show to see how many they have of what I want, then go back the last day and get one at the discount. Picked up two 4" plants from Cal Orchids...not blooming yet.
L. purpurata 'El Supremo' X C. warneri (alba) 'Showoff' bud just breaking the sheath
Den Jonathan's Glory ' Dark Joy' in bud
Will post when in bloom.

Wonderful, Lindsey. Your shot of the koi makes him look like he's on fire - a calendar shot, I think.

I need to get over to Selby soon - haven't been there for a couple of months now.

I drove up and met Lindsey and Jim at Tropiflora, too. Unfortunately, the Plantio folks are away in Venezuela visiting family so we didn't have an awful lot of selection in the orchids department. I came home with a big hunk of cork, as usual and two cute little twisty Tillandsias to mount on a piece of it.
