@Hemlady Cindy--I like all your daylilies. But I love all the ones with the large green throats! It looks like you have a happy yard. May your yard be a joyful and peaceful place to be!

Today is crazy weather day. Brutal rains came through this morning... and thunderstorms and rain just tore through here about half an hour ago, so my blooms have been through a lot today. Pictures are after the morning rains and before the evening storms.
Ruby Spider
Seedling (Garden name: 'Becky's Curls'... The storms just rolled through here about half an hour ago and tore the blooms up )
Rock Solid -- FFE! .... And it looks terrible thanks to the early rains
Coach's Home Run -- FFE!
Matchless Fire
Cloud Baron -- FFO!
Olallie Keith Stone's Sunset - I was trying to capture the gold glimmer on the bloom, but my camera wasn't behaving.
Broadway Phantom
Palace Guard --FFO!
NOID (garden name: "Red Challenge")
Symphony of Fire!
Spider Man - love starting at this flower, but the pictures don't always capture it's true beauty.
Night Embers gave me two flowers today.
Starman's Quest
Edited to add: here are some pictures after the storm:
Last but not least, the one on the left WAS a completely red daylily (Cupid Calling):

DnD Even with the storms you have some nice looking daylilies. Matchless Fire is accurately named. Looks like I'd burn my hand just trying to touch it! Now you do not have to water! What will you do with that extra time? What any good daylily lover would do--check catalogs and the LA. May you be blessed with a wonderful safe weekend!

Only one new bloom today. Purchased Eno Festival from the hybridizer Jim Massey before he closed his garden. Always enjoyed the visits and hospitality of Jim and his helpers.
Blooms have been showing up a few at a time...very few. Here are a couple images from this week...
My Gal Sal, been here since 2006, one of my favorite mini's.
Wings of Chance, a totally hardy evergreen for me - it has been through some awful winter weather in the past 17 years and always puts on a great show. I love the clear colors, both yellow and red.
@Emquinn I agree totally! I went down to NC when I heard he was closing down and loaded up on daylilies! I missed that one though.
Did you know he donated a bunch of his intros to the NC Botanical Gardens in Chapel Hill? They are scattered around and I'm not sure I've found them all. It's usually blazing hot and I run out of steam. I've never been able to tour the entire BG in one visit.

@Char--Wow pretty daylilies. If I get a formal dress, can I borrow that Bowtie Affair? Your hardy evergreens are amazing. Proof that anything is possible! May many blessings come your way this weekend!
@Ahead-- gorgeous bloms! I love those green throats, but some of those yellows are causing me to rethink. I just love them all! May you find the calm you desire and have a safe weekend!

@Emquinn-- Liz isn't it special in life when there is a personal touch to what we do? What a pretty sweet daylily you have there. To add to that the memory behind it. May you be blessed with kindness and a wonderful safe weekend!

Jim told us he was going to reopen as a display garden, he taught at Chapel Hill and must have decided to donate to their garden. He is the person that sold me my first Daylilies. Still have a copy of an article about him in Southern Living in I think 2004.
Thank you.

@Hazelcrestmikeb Wow what a gorgeous selection! When did you say your catalog was coming out? I was going to tell you which ones were my favorite, but there is not enough room to put all their names down. Love those crisp vibrant colors on those northern daylilies. May you have a safe wonderful weekend!

Count Your Assets, Curb Appeal, Mystic Image, Blueberry Dream
Ginny, these are all from Floyd Cove aren't they? How long have you had them and how do you find the bud count is farther north? I have heard that bud count decreases in cooler climates compared to what is reported on the more southern hybridizers websites. There are several from Floyd Cove I would love to have but wonder if the bud count would be quite what is reported.
