With Flash 8:25pm.......this shows the color closest to what it actually looked like. The yellow was very pronounced and the blooms on this are larger than they have ever been!


Garden Symphony....This one used to really WOW me. Not so much any more.


Flasher.....my Flasher is starting off this year with the more yellow bloom. Will see what it throws out this year. This one has a story that started a couple of years ago. Do I have a sport or what? I was going to pursue at one point. But that requires more documentation and stuff than I care to do. So now I just enjoy it no matter what it blooms. There are photos in the database and I post some every year. I photograph almost every bloom on this one just in case!

Thanks a lot everyone, now I have to add about 10 more to my never ending want list!!! Now I know how cookie monster feels when he sees cookies. Mmmmm Daylilies

I just came back from a (wonderful) fourth of July with family ....but in the two days I was gone, I missed a LOT! I had a few FFO's and FFE's in the last two days that I missed. One of note: American Revolution had it's FFO on July 4th (It wasn't open on the 3rd and it was wilted when I got home today, so it was clearly yesterday's bloom)! How appropriate!:



I'll have to go out tomorrow and see all that I missed, it was too dark to see everything when I got back tonight, unfortunately.

I'm not sure what this was. I don't think I've seen it before, which makes me think it was an FFE of something and I missed it:

Here are few blooms in the sun.

Lightning strikes, not very appealing, it's smaller this year and many details aren't showing.


Pagan Ritual in the sun is discoloring. It also shows a double hint.... I didn't know it could double.


Taffetà Mist is also showing doubling signs


The only one I have that should be a double acts like a single!

I figured out for sure which --FFO/FFE's I missed...

Jungle Beauty does ok in the heat, but has had a shorter bloom cycle. Less than 2 years still room for improvement, hopefully.

Thank you, Daniel. It was disappointing, but I had a wonderful weekend, so it was worth it. I have a bunch more FFOs and FFEs that I'm waiting on, so plenty of excitement in store in the upcoming days to distract me from the disappointment of those that I did this past weekend.

40" MRe 7.5" dormant diploid, extended.

Unusual form, cascade.

This light pink-cream with a bright rose-purple feathered eye is tall, well-branched (3-4 way) with lots of buds. It has an extended bloom season, and often reblooms. It is a CMO, open on cold mornings, and has good substance even late at night. It stands up through 90-100 degree days and rain. It is consistently showy and dependable. It is named after Jessie Cohen, a daylily friend who had a great garden and gave me much encouragement and support. It is a great pollen parent (but hard to set seeds as a pod parent), passing on the eye and great plant habits to many seedlings. Probably out of Flight of Orchids."

Cindy I don't know if its dry by you like it is by me but your daylilies are looking good!

I'm watering enough to get a few blooms:


"Tangerine Corduroy" is a FFE for me. Could not find a good photo of this diploid on the internet and bought it only by description. Thrilled with this gorgeous bloom! Photo does not do it justice.


"Jambalaya" is a second-year plant I didn't get to see bloom last year because deer ate the buds. The blooms so far have varied in color quite a bit. The latest blooms are starting to look like what I'd expect. However, this bloom has two pistils! I don't know if that is somewhat common but I have never noticed that before. Here is a closer look:



"Rambunctious Rosie" a first-year for me.


"Seventy Times Seven" is a second-year that deer ate the buds off last year.


"Frankies Fantasy" is another one I didn't get to see last year. Impressed by the rich color


"Mar the Star" is a first-year.


"Samurai Silk" is a first-year with little 8" fans and yet still blooming with near full-size blooms


"Mynelles Starfish" with not quite full-size blooms of just over 8"


"Epicenter" impressing me again as a first-year


"Oy Vey" with gorgeous blooms on a great plant.

I Love Epicenter. Never loved UFOs and spiders but I'm changing my mind. This is one that blows me away!
