I have glad to find this cubit. I think sedum is a great and usually very underused plant. They really do well with just about no care. They look great with some of my very favorite plants like daylilies and lilies. The bees love them and the flowers are just covered with bees in the fall.

It is the favorite of my Bumble Bees. I agree with you, underused. If you would like to try some of the low growing varieties you can use goldfinch4 Hypertufa recipe and grow them in troughs or pots. We also have a Potting Mix recipe by Al that they would do well in. I just add quite a bit of Miracle Grow to the recipe, that way I don't have to worry about fertilizing them. Sedum aren't real big on fertilizer as a rule anyway, it can make them to leggy and weak. At least that is what I have found. I quess it just depends on the soil. : )

The only things I ever plant in pots are annuals. I just use pots for splashes of color.

Here the sedums are covered in honeybees as soon as they start to bloom. Of course, bumble bees also.

The thing is, I have noticed that the bees have their favorites. They much prefer the Autumn Joy to the Brilliant. Strange.

Most of my sedum are in the ground, but I do have several pots planted with them. I only have one variety of tall sedum, Autumn Joy, so don't have anything to make a comparison on the bee's favorite. I have some seed to plant of two different tall one, Black Jack and Neon. Hope they germinate.
By the way, your avatar is showing some beautiful roses.

Hurray, the two Purple Emperor upright Sedums I ordered came today. Nice large pots too, much bigger than I expected. Don't look very dark though, I am hoping that is just because it is early spring growth.

I have noticed that new spring growth on any sedums I have here is always lighter than later in the year when they have grown some and darkened up. Also that means they were basking in summer sun.

Now I just have to wait for those dark upright Sedums I bought from Bluestone Perennials.

Thumbs up Can't wait to see the pictures. Can you post some of them in the database Rita, so we have an easy reference. If so, don't forget to put a date with the photo. That will help people see the difference from one season to another. You have very good observation skills. Thumbs up
What is your other one that is coming? If it's not already in the database I will go add it so you can put pictures of that one also. Smiling

It is Lynda Windsor. In fact I am over at the Bluestone Perennials site just now again looking at the sedum selections they have there. A very good selection if you ask me. I have not seen as many different types and as good a selection amywhere else.

I am think of buying some others but still have to think on it. I do have another spot that I need to plant in and those Lynda Windsors will probably be the start of that garden. Thing is that I have at least two other places I could put them so I really could use more. Not more Lynda Windsor, as I already ordered six, but more sedum. I am looking at ones I currently do not have. Still need to think on it.

The Linda Windsor is beautiful, I also like the Stardust. Okay, so I like almost all of them, short, tall and inbetween. Big Grin
I've never purchesd plants from them, but have never heard anything but good about what they send. Wonderful like Rita.

My problem is that I keep buying more plants than I have room for. Then each spring I have to dig up grass to make new gardenbeds or enlarge old ones.

I really, really like that Lynda Windsor. The folliage is very dark and the flowers are dark. The only one I have ever seen like that. I stumbled upon it when I was looking for the Purple Emperer plants to buy this spring.

I also really like the SEDUM telephium Picolette, the Cloud Walker and Postman's Pride.
