Well, after seeing so many beautiful photos and hearing how well everyone's 'Beautiful Edgings' was doing this season I went down to the garden this morning to have that serious talk with my underperforming plant.
You can see that she is very distraught and has totally lost her focus.
This is an example of the type work she has been turning out lately.
It appears she thinks life has been hard on her and that she was brought up in a poor environment(bog soil) and she feels she has to continue building buds (bud builder) when the other daylilies don't have such a huge responsibility.
I explained that when I got her she came with rave reviews and that she was not living up to my expectations. I told her how well the other members 'Beautiful Edgings' were performing.
She promised me that if I would take some of the responsibility off of her she would try to do better in the future.
I did remove the offending bud building scape.
Now I am hoping things will get better and that the blooms of the future will be more colorful and much larger and actually have beautiful edgings.
I will give 'Beautiful Edgings' credit for producing three new scapes, one almost ready to bloom, a follow up scape to that, then the third one just developing buds. I think the talk went pretty well.
If you look closely at the buds in this photo, you can see some bumps and one that resembles a hook. The only thing I found was an immature snail. The shell was just forming and was easily crushed.
